I think the reason why Grimlock appealed to so many kids, myself included, is because despite the fact that deep down he's a good guy, he still has the mentality and maturity of a 6 year old kid, and many 6 year old kids could identify with and relate to him.

I love some of the aspects of this episode. Like the idea that the autobots are doing their part to repair everyplace they fought the decepticons. It's an interesting idea most shows either gloss over or mock. And as a kid i never appreciated why Bumblebee was always the autobot with Spike. But now I can see as the smallest autobot he has the easiest time moving around among humans in robot mode. Plus he probably enjoys being the biggest guy in the room for a change. Then there's the fact the writers respected the audience enough to not need to show Megatron ordering Shockwave to send cybertonium. It stood to reason they would have run diagnostic checks and come to the same conclusion.

This two-parter is probably my favourite overall episode. Dinobots, Shockwave, Autobot v Deception battles, Cybertron, and we get to see that cool backstory video. Spike, Carly and Sparkplug are likeable human characters as well.

Kind of felt a bit too much like the second Dinobot episode again, albeit with a slight twist, like they couldn't justify the story right, also without confirming that Grimlock is the Autobot's jerk-ish Richard Cranium. This made him dislikeable to a lot of people: he was kind of a traitor, honestly, like an Autobot counterpart to Starscream. It didn't go well for him. They only survived the movie because they were popular as a group, and the combiners were too much, too often. And ofc, dinosaurs are *always* cool. >.>

7:58 Rather funny thing to note: In G1 the Dinobots are weaker/less durable as robots than as dinos, and in transformers Prime the Predacons (mostly just Predaking) is said to be more durable (not necessarily any stronger or weaker, just more easily able to shrug off shots) as a robot than as a beast/dragon. Just an interesting and probably unintentional reversal.

Even though part 2 was much more enjoyable and epic mainly because it featured Swoop in a big role as the main lead, part 1 had so many funny moments with a nice balance of seriousness thrown in. From Blaster manhandling Ravage at the back of Ironhide to Hound luring the Decepticons away with a Megatron hologram to Prime literally kicking him (pun intended) through a wall to Starscream sarcastly pointing out that the Dinobots found their secret HQ to all of the Transformers falling apart due to lack of Cybertonium. It had it all and more. The ending with Spike and Carly going through the space bridge portal as Shockwave is waiting in entry room and blasting the door was an excellent way to end part 1 but also setting up part 2 was very well done.
