Very interesting watch. It's cool to start to see some of these Polar metrics showing up in other company's devices. Seems like a reasonable move by Polar. Having owned a GBD-H1000 what all reviewers missed was the fact that the app is hot garbage and Casio did not support or update it. I can't overexaggerate how bad the app is and how it makes the watch completely unusable. You can't even access your fit files or data to export them to an app that actually works. I love these watches but wouldn't make the mistake of buying one again due to the software.

Casio themselves should wear the GBDH1000 so they should know the areas to update, modes cant even be customized, notificaions very hard to access, long story short if they really listened to their customers complain the H1000 would have been very good watch..Casio just ignored all these, not expecting addiional sports , but a customizable mode is very good, notification access very hard they ignored all complaints, so Im not going to this 2nd revision, they need to listen sometimes to customers complains, they are the ones who buy

1 have this watch in the yellow band variant and agree with everything you said. I'm a g shock fan so l'm keeping the watch. The build design and weight are perfect. I will say that I did a bike ride and while gps took like 4 minutes to be acquired, once done it did track my coordinates pretty accurately. Haven't tried running, swimming, or any of the others so can't say how those would function. I did connect my watch to the app and the first thing it did was a software update. So it can receive updates thru Bluetooth on the phone app. Hopefully they keep up with the software updates and can improve the features and functionality of this watch.

Yup me too, I would not trade durability vs weight because thats the 1st place why I bought GShock for durability, I would still go with stainless steel back plate, yes Carbon fiber is more durable but not on all angles, its a compostie it has a weakness in 1 direction e.g. shocks or falling, thats why I would still go with my H1000, carbon fiber is not good at bending.

Putting protective wrap on G-Shock is like putting protective screen on Nokia 3310. Just pointless. Nice watch. I know why smaller watches are better for different tracking, but as 191cm fairly big and fit guy, I appreciate options with bigger watches. Common sizes look like kids watch on my wrist. That's why my daily driver is 10 year old G-Shock, still looking like new. If I get money to upgrade my sports tracking watch it's going to be Fenix 7X, just for the size. @konradwielandt3768 Жыл бұрын
@@maybefuture You are welcome. Don't want to spoil DesFits review, but so far I like the watch a lot. GPS and heart rate seem to be pretty accurate, and the data analysis in the app is quite comprehensive (this is from only two runs in the park so far though, no difficult environments). Notifications are not very useful imo, tiny font, you get a popup when they arrive, but to read them you need to go into the menu. Also no way to select which apps to recieve notifications from - all on or all off. Generally the small b/w display makes it a bit hard to read, especially during workouts. Data pages can be customized, but show a fixed layout of three fields, which results in small font. The Casio app seems unfinished, to put it nicely. Random logouts and need to reconnect to the watch, and no data export and sync what so ever. Lets hope they improve on that. Generally you have to like the watch for what it is I guess - a cool G-Shock first, sports watch second. If you expect a Garmin or a proper smartwatch, I think you will be disappointed. Maybe it will get there over time. I will definitely keep it for now and hope for quick updates.

I have the H1000 and really like it! It became my every day wear! I do get frustrated with the Heart Rate monitor however, as it seems hit and miss giving seemingly random readings during exercise! I had wondered if it's because I have tattoos, maybe it interferes with the sensor? I'd be interested to see how the new H2000 gets on, is the new sensor more able to give proper/better readings? Overall I like the look of the H2000, and am considering buying one, but if the HR monitor is going to give similar results to the H1000, I might just save my money?

And you both sound and vibration. When I get out for walking in the mid day, for an hour (under the sun), it kind of took 1.5 weeks to loose two of the charge blocks. I'd charge every Saturday, and sometimes it'd loose 3 sometimes 2. Though, way way better when compared with real smart watches...

I'll keep Apple watch for smart features and ability to navigate with offline maps. But I've also have weakness to taugh watches with lcd like screens so this Casio is worth consideration for MTB, taughter workouts or even when repairing car/bike where it would be pity to scrach fragile Apple Watch. All the best!

Thanks for the great review. At the moment I am tossed between this watch and Garmin Instinct 2x Solar. When I watch GI 2x Solar rewviews all over YT, I regularly hear solar charging numbers like required lux, time spent outdoors in order to get "infinite" battery time. So I wonder if you got any science and numbers for this watch solar charging so far? Thanks

Can you have GPS tracking while running with only the watch or does it need to be connected to a phone? My old Garmin Forerunner was standalone and would track all the info by itself without needing a phone so I'm wondering if this guy does the same.

Nice review/unbox video. Maybe I ask a lot but I would like to know if it is comparable with the _SmartWatch_ of _Apple_ Or there is some insurmountable difference. Then, the _G-SHOCK_ are usually resistant even several meters deep and in that they usually have no rivals. I would therefore like them to have more functions in that sense.

Considerable differences from an Apple Watch in terms of smartwatch features. Durability is certainly its highlight but a Garmin Instinct is another option in this price range.

I've been hoping that Casio would be updating the app to support exporting of workout data (which is necessary for me to properly analyze the data) but there's still no word on an actual date for that functionality, which is the main reason the full review is not out yet. However I'll have a follow-up video published soon at least with my experience so far.

Although the data presentation is better with the Casio Watch app, the app doesn't appear to be completely built out quite yet. Such as you can't see historical Polar data, there's no sleep history, and there's no Strava integration at the moment (which was actually present on the G-SHOCK Move app).
