That’s who needs fired. Whoever scouted Watson and thought this guy still had something. When it became obvious every time he was on the field and couldn’t compete a pass. He’s a lot slower and his arm strength was overrated and he didn’t wanna learn Stefanski offense. Flacco showed up Watson so bad it was obvious last year Watson wasn’t anywhere near what he was in Houston. This guy is getting his karma now. @SecondWindStories11 күн бұрын
This is true, but that's because Jimmy Haslam decided to willingly bend this organization over a barrel by not sticking with his QB. They said that "They needed an Adult in the room" when Mayfield was there. Well, what do you expect when you draft a rookie. The purpose is for him to develop and grow within your organization. The Browns front office decides to pay Watson a quarter billion dollars, to be an "adult" but is incapable of learning the offense in 2 years. You never heard this sort of nonsense with Baker Mayfield, even when having 4 HC's and 4 OC's in 4 years. I have never in my life seen a trade so bad, that 3 years after the trade occurred new information comes out reinforcing how desperately bad this trade was by the Browns.

The part with Flacco just puts into more detail why he was let go, even though at the time it wasn’t a surprise that someone who wasn’t in camp training, coming off the couch in December was better than Watson was in the matter of games showed how bad Watson really was, so Flacco was let go. The report shows how bad mentally Watson is on learning that he was under the system for two years struggling, yet Flacco comes in and learns it under 30 days. I hope that the Browns don’t take Sanders since he’s a younger version of Watson, someone who has to be in the exact system that was built for him and will fail if it isn’t.

On the right, people said we know he’s probably a POS, but we’re gonna ignore that because he was really good with Houston for a season or two. This is why character matters. Naw, do not blame this fiasco solely on Watson. Watson's last year in Houston was 2020. He threw for 4,823 yds, 33 TDs, 7 INTs, with a QBR of 112.4. His first full season in Cleveland Watson's stats for his first full season here were 1115 YDs, 7 TDs, 4 INTs and a QBR of 84.3. Baker Mayfield's last season in Cleveland was 2021, he threw for 3010 YDs, 17 TDs, 13 INTs and a QBR of 84.3. Mayfield played through injuries and was handcuffed with Stefanski's antiquated offense. This past season, Baker led his team to the playoffs. He threw for 4500 yds, 41 TDs, 26 INTs, and a QBR of 106.8. He finally had a coach who designed his office around the talents of the players instead of trying to stick square legs into round holes. Stefanski needs to be gone if he continues to lay his heavy and unskilled hands on our offense. The new OC must have the complete authority to design the offense and to call plays. If that is unacceptable to Kevin, then hire a new HC.

But teammates ultimately grew tired of the organization catering to an ineffective quarterback, and he never really fit in Cleveland. He received at least one death threat. But after he arrived in Cleveland, Watson never embraced Stefanski’s system. He wanted to be in shotgun, and Stefanski wanted him under center to make the play-action component more effective. Kevin stefansky is horrible this is why David njoko can't seem to do any good in this 1980s tight end offense if Kevin stefansky had any clue what he was doing he would be designing plays for a superior athletic tight end instead he stuck with the 82 offense because it's the only thing he knows zero innovation zero vision zero talent but he did go to the ivy League so that may be why he had two coach of the years without winning a playoff game meanwhile there's coaches with three super bowls that don't have a coach of the year explain that nitwitz

Watson was done playing football the moment he signed that guaranteed contract. Duh!

It appears this past season management/haslam tried their best to force it to work with Watson in Cleveland. Unfortunately that only made the situation worse. For the players and the fans. After making such a big investment in Watson it understandable Jimmy was not going to give up without trying everything in his power to get the QB back to his previous elite level. Now it seems they realize Watson is truly a lost cause. Moving forward they will let Stefanski go back to running his system again. I think this will be good for the team moving forward. But they have to add a solid veteran QB and a talented young QB prospect in the draft or via Free Agency/trade. I think Pats QB J Milton very talented and intriguing. Maybe more so than Justin Fields. Not sure if his style a fit in Cleveland or if trade compensation would be too high for Cleveland? But if we’re not drafting a QB at two (Ward goes #1 / Deion says I’m not letting my son play for Browns), First you gotta add a vet like Flacco, Cousins, or Brissett who can keep team competitive and run Stefanski system. You could draft a QB in early rounds with upside. Or you could go different route by adding Milton or Fields instead of drafting a QB this season. Who are both very athletic but again not sure they fit Stefanski‘s offensive system. The ramifications of the Watson trade will continue to put the browns organization backs to the wall. All the money and draft picks we gave up. Really backfired and I’m not sure you can fix everything in one year. Might realistically take two or three years to get back on track /playoff contention. & the pressure to make good choices is even higher now. Guys like DE M Garrett want to win /play meaningful games. So trying to balance that will be interesting to watch. The organization put all their eggs in one basket and they consistently double down on their decision, even when the results were horrendous. They only have themselves to blame for this mess.

They should of kept flocco

This is almost word for word the Baker situation with the only difference being Watson hasn’t demanded a trade yet like Baker did when the team got fed up with it.

😮terrible of the coach, that as you said, the other players said Stefanski wouldn’t correct Watson mistakes but corrected all of theirs…..everyone could see Watson wasn’t liked by the players bc when both Flacco and WINston took over it was like a different team, they were exciting again winning, and having fun….because Flacco and WINston are good quarterbacks and real leaders!!!! We heard Watson was a problem in Texas as well refused to play for a coach and let his team down there too. Sad. Atlanta friends said, THANK goodness Watson did not come here.!

Stefanski was following the Haslam mandate regarding criticizing Watson. Don’t cross the boss.

Baker gets us to the playoffs(we get rid of him), Joe Flacco takes us to the playoffs (we get rid of him) do you not see the Jerry jones syndrome going on in cleveland, we give a guy 250m that haven’t played football in 2 years and hasn’t won not even 1 meaningful game for the browns in 4 years and we can’t find a way to get him gone/traded, what kind of circus is being run in that building, there needs to be a lot more then coaches being fired

Prove all of us who said that this was a great thing to have DW wrong, it doesn't look that way, does it? People would bash you for saying this was a bad trade, now they have to wonder and know it was on all levels

Nobody else is noticing AVP was awful in New England and got fired after his first year there, along with the rest of the regime? Dude isn’t a great OC and didn’t really advance the base Kubiak system at all in his time here. Needed an upgrade, though the Dorsey fit never made a lot of sense to me.

At least we know why they did not keep Flacco. "Because they didn't want to hear fans in the stands chanting Flacco" while Watson was crashing and burning. So they bring in Winston (sounds like Watson, just in case any fool would chant that). Now the Browns will not have to worry about anybody chanting anything because there will be no one in the stands. Thanks Bonehead Berry!

I did always wonder why The Browns would trade for a shot gun style QB, then try to change that.
@domorealtoreality11 күн бұрын
This should tell you that Kevin didn’t know how to use dw4 to dw4 strengths. Well stop it. You go after a qb and you build the offense around the qb not a system that doesn’t fit the qb that you go out and get.

Watson was never a good gb, someone please show a play where Watson read the defense and audibled!? There isn't one! The guy has an iq in double digits or he his lazy and not willing to do the mental work necessary to be successful! I strongly believe it is the former and he is just not smart enough to understand the complexities of the game at an nfl level

I wasn’t against the Browns getting Watson except the way they treated Baker and they gave way to much for him in money and draft picks considering he had the off field issues and we figured he would be suspended some his first season.
