Feng, could you do a video specifically about working as a freelancer? You have already mentioned some points through your videos, but I think there's a lot of things that are still very obscure for most of us watchers, especialy when entering (or trying to enter) in the industry. Things like how to charge, how to reach the clients, how to netociate, etc. Thank you! Your videos are always enlightening! Cheers!

I can relate to the sudden burst of improvement story. I have been drawing horses for years, and they didn't look nice in the beginning. Suddenly, I produced a drawing that I didn't even believe I made. I was stunned by it myself.

Thanks for you saying that there can be "leaps" in quality. Although I am not a painter, rather a 3D Modeler, this really gives me hope. It's the same thing in 3D. In the beginning, I couldn't even make some clouds look good and I failed a lot and didn't finish projects. Then someone wanted me to do a kitchen for archviz. Although the project failed due to planning and the lack of deadlines, it gave me a boost in modeling. Then I participated in a competition. It gave me a boost in lighting. When I look back, I've learned a lot. There are the same "leaps" in quality- you just have to stick through to bad parts and go on. So thanks for saying it. It can be really motivating listening to people and having the same experience.

Great video. Since your environment thumbnails video I've been doing a lot of thumbnails and I enjoy it a lot. Like you said in this video, it takes away some of the stress and pressure which I get when I try and do a more complete painting that will take me up to 10 hours. I also find it's been helping me to learn to indicate detail without actually having to paint it in. I love design cinema.

You're insight in these videos, is always inspirational and motivating. For me personally though, ever since the very first videos, your explanation of things, always makes the goal and dream of being an artist and earning an living from creating images seem easy and achievable, but what you really do is just build massive confidence through your breakdowns, and exposing a process. Thank you

Question For Q&A In the past few months / half a year, I've drawn more than ever, and have improved to some degree, but I never feel like I've drawn enough. But at the same time I look at everything and do everything with design in mind, though sometimes I have put off drawing to do other things. I am 16, and remember how Feng once mentioned that this should be the age to just enjoy life more, but does this mean I am procrastinating, and is the concept industry for me? I can't imagine doing anything else.

Q&A: At what age did you go to art Center and did you go for the art school and not for self study because you needed a visum? Question for Q&A: In interviews some professional concept artists say that in the near future concept artists will have to work in 3D software (like Z-brush or Modo) and even a little animation. Could this be true? If I'm a student should I also concentrate on learning to use a 3D modeling software?

Q&A: Where do you think the video game industry is headed in the next couple of years? I'm just a bit confused about Art Deco you mentioned last episode and I learned some in school. The bauhaus movement seems to be classified as being part of Art Deco. What I learn from bauhaus is it is a way of doing things and seems to be the beginning of industrial design. So is Art Deco just a blanket term for that time period?

Q&A: Do you think that illusion of fonctionality is enough for a concept artist or real functionality is a necessity?
@BombaJead

Yunus Samil Tufekci Well that depends on what your concept is for, most of the time for games/movies you would want implied functionality as it gives you more freedom to come up with original ideas.

Hi Feng, I really want to be a concept artist like you but im new with digital art. Ever since i was a kid, i always copy things and draw them on my book. Now, i am quite confident in copying things and drawing them traditionally, sketch book and pen. Does this method help me improve too? I dont feel confident in making my own things and the necessary next steps that i should take to produce my own work.. I hope you can read this message. Thank you for your time.

how do your student physical health go over the year, I see amazing coming out form the students but with the amount of sleep and caffeine there on, how don't burn out after month, do they just adapted? Is that simple, I come form a exercise science background and anything time I done studies or looked up reports on these lifestyle it usually downhill with most demographics, but schools like your own seem to trive this approach, with puzzle me, has there be any reports done in the past?

yeh, Hi Feng Zhu (or your staff) i have a question about using your own photograph's pixels in commercial work. Since you are the one who closed the shutter over the lens, are you allowed to use the image's pixels to create works, even if its noticeable that it, for instance, a photo of someone's garden statue? I know you've done photo-collaging before with the Elderscrolls concept art- Ep.70 but I dont know if you were using Google images or your own snappys. Nice work dude.

what im finding hard, being a green newbie, not just a newbie, is that my pen strokes are inconsistent and dont track the way i want to see them. i have reduced the working area on my tablet but still finding some strokes hard to achieve. the second thing is the type of brush. Im using CS2 as i have all my photography actions stored, but still just need heaps of practice. Do you have a video where i can learn certain pen and brush types and how to achieve desired brush strokes.
