Thanks for this great work, just what I was looking for.

Very useful tutorial for thermal comfort analysis. Could you please, make a tutorial using earth tube to? there is no information from the internet using DB. Thanks

Hi! I am new with design builder, and I want to know how to get that EP launch window?
@biswajit5122 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thank you for the question. If you install EnergyPlus, then in the start button, you need to click and go to EnergyPlus software and then if you click on that you can find EP launch. I hope this helps.

Hello Kumar Biswajit Debnath, Thank you for sharing. May I ask about how to change the glass specification? For my study, I would like to compare a different SHGC (Solar Heat Gain Coefficient) of the glass window to see how different SHGC can affect thermal comfort. Is it possible to change SHGC of the glass in this software, please give some advice, Thank you very much.

You should be able to change the glass specification. First, create a copy of the glass material and then change it. If you are working with the library material, you can not change the properties. You can find the details in another of my tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJSQfKSKnMujbZY&ab_channel=KumarBiswajitDebnath

Can we determine indoor air temperature of a building at various time like temp vs time graph in design builder??
@biswajit5124 жыл бұрын
Yes. Indoor air temperature is an output of EP+. In design builder you can do that too. The simulation results are with different timestamps such as minutely, hourly, daily, monthly. So it is possible to make a temp vs time graph.

Why did you not choose your output options in the simulation tab? Is there a benefit to manipulating the IDF file directly?
@Jadinandrews6 жыл бұрын
Also, a follow up question, why did you not simulate the buildings from within DesignBuilder?
@biswajit5126 жыл бұрын
You can simulate in DesignBuilder (DB) with that option. However, DB does not allow to work on the simulated data. EP+ generates CSV files where you can analyze the data such as correlation. Also, if want to work with new material or new objects, IDF files give better user-friendly operation.

Thank you for the reply Kumar, I have only been trained in DesignBuilder, but I think I will look into simulating through EP+ directly. What you say is true, at the moment I am trying to determine thermal comfort of a building, and the Fanger PMV output DesignBuilder gives me is not making sense. The operative temperature is sometimes around 26c, but the Fanger index is at -4, which indicates that the space is uncomfortably cold, when it should be on the hot side of the scale.
@biswajit5126 жыл бұрын
You may need to check the Natural ventilation or mixed mode of ventilation issue. Sometimes the schedule becomes a problem. Also, for Fanger output, PMV vs PPD analysis is better to understand. Moreover, PMV should have a scale of -3 to +3. Best of luck.

@@biswajit512 I think if you open the results in DesignBuilder Results viewer you can then select variables, see them on a graph and also export to CSV

After completing the entire process the RDD file is still not highlighting

It can happen if you have not checked the RDD option in under the Miscellaneous Outputs. designbuilder.co.uk/helpv4.7/Content/Output_Options.htm

Hi, I am assuming you are asking for the IDF file. I made these tutorials in 2015. I tried to find the files, but still no luck. If I find them I will let you know. Sorry for the almost negative reply. Best wishes!
