I agree with Kathleen Enders, she said exactly what I was thinking. Watching your video cemented my decisions on my kitchen remodel. My head has been swimming with so many half baked ideas. You explained what I knew but have not been able to shift through all the "professional advice" that I have been getting. Shaker or Shaker with bead mould, Neutral color, white marble, maybe black honed granite, maybe soap stone, classic subway tile 3 in x 6 in, simple and classic architectural detail. Classic and timeless.....beautiful. Thank you. And yes...I would love a video on paint color selection, also. Oscar is a charm.

I am about to embark an a huge remodel - a house that was gutted. I've watched so many of your videos that most of these 10 elements are all considerations and choices I've already made - with the exception of the marble countertops, which I am now happily considering! It's a small kitchen, but it's the first thing one sees coming through the front door, so, yes to marble! (I immediately looked up Carrera marble, and then found Imperial Danby. Which do you think would be best?) Your videos have helped me put into perspective classic lines, proportion, and tone. I feel armed with good taste! Thanks so much!
@Designchickee3 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad you feel 'armed'! I love that! I'd stick with Carara marble!! It's just my preference and it's classic. I'd say most people recognize Carara over Imperial Danby, so that makes it more positive for resale too. Thanks for watching!

I enjoy and learn from your videos however, the more colors I see, the more difficult it is for me to choose. My kitchen is traditional and the marble counter has shades of brown, mustard and rust. First, as Boston Terrier mom myself, I concur that Oscar is super cute! I am a certified decorator and am redesigning my back split main floor. It’s very easy for me to create style plans for others but when it comes to my own i struggle. I know it’s because I have a very eclectic style but my space is not as expansive as what we typically see in most images we see online and I definitely don’t have the budget those home owners likely had either. I share you approach to keeping the foundational materials neutral (cabinets, etc) I alway do that when I create a space for versatility and resale purposes. I love the ability to change up the styling of the space without having to invest big bucks all over again. What I would LOVE to see you demonstrate in a video is how to create various different styles with the same bones (shaker cab, neutral colours, etc.). Preferably in the more average person’s home and budget. A Happy medium would be great to see. Love your approach and enjoyed your video! This is my mood board weekend so I enjoyed watching!

This was fabulous. Thank you! My biggest problem right now is deciding on a floor for my kitchen. I have maple 1970s wood floor throughout main floor and it stops abruptly at kitchen. (Kitchen was added by previous owner and has LVT.) Some tell me to continue the wood floor but I don't really want wood floor in the kitchen and several floor contractors tell me it'd be difficult to even do. I have thought of wood-looking LVT but told not to do that either. What to do?

Hi. I Love All Your Material on home design. I Have changed all interior doors from the old unpleasant oak to white and added modern nickel knobs but I'm wondering if it would be tacky or lack cohesiveness if I opted to do a grand stand out black door knobs for the exterior doors which I believe would add a little drama...the doors open up to my living space?

What aboout black stainless? Not a timeless choice? It pains me to see beautiful wood covered in paint. Paint is for sheetrock.
