A little.of both for us. We always include our friends that don't have family nearby. My favorite tradition is drawing our names for our Christmas exchange AND eating the Oyster Dressing that my Ma taught me how to make years ago. I've never had a tablescape or been where we do formal style dining....we have so many its buffet and grab n go! Hahaha it looks GORGEOUS! Love love love the buffalo check with the word plates!

Our family, & extended family are always together on Thanksgiving. There's a super sized man cave completely furnished with seating, bar, bar stools, wide screen tv & vintage autos. Nothing like a pink Cadillac convertible to kick back in & watch the game. Lol

I was so taken with the pretty bluish/greenish/greyish color of certain squashes, I designed a TABLE SETTING for THANKSGIVING 2012 using the squashes and some teal colored accents with my Homer Laughlin Golden Wheat dinnerware, an ivory hand-stitched tablecloth from a friend and some pretty off-white ceramic cornucopia vases. My friend's grandmother embroidered the tablecloth in the early 1900s and he wanted to know if I wanted to have it, otherwise he would just "cut it into rags and use them for clean up". Of course, I immediately said yes! I wish I could post a pic, it turned out great. I especially liked how the golden yellow in the wheat design went with the teal green, a very interesting and pleasing color combination.

Love your place settings, every detail. But the centerpiece is absolutely exquisite! The natural beauty and softness of the greens draw me in. . . what a beautiful table to enjoy along with a special dinner! Many years ago we celebrated "Early Thanksgiving" in late Oct. or early Nov. that included our local extended family. Our kids loved it:) The very first celebration was to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with our CA family here, visiting in OH. Our daughter's family celebrates "Thanksmas" between Thanksgiving and Christmas with a host of friends, all former rugby players! Now our own adult kids host in their homes - sweet:)
