Have been using this company for more or less 4 years now and they are incredible. Just had to change my scent (Rouge by Rihanna) when they started to downsize their generic brands and I had to find a new scent which I haven't really found one yet. Plus they no longer do 50ml. I'm also not a fan of the new packaging but for them to sell it at R50 they have to get the cheapest packaging which is plastic. I must say generic Rogue would last longer than the original brand even after I have washed the clothing that had the scent. I fully recommend Fine Fragrance 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

I collect fragrances and I enjoy the experience of opening a new perfume, researching perfume notes and the story behind the perfume etc. I have expensive as well as well priced perfumes. I’ve bought a number of perfumes from fine fragrance collection when their perfumes were about R140 for the 30ml and R180 for the 50ml and I still have some of them. The perfumes are well done and do smell like the originals though with some I find slight variations to my original ones. For the price, a bargain. Reason I stopped buying was because all bottles looked the same. I need each bottle to be distinct and beautiful as I have a display for my perfumes and love looking at them as I decide what to wear for the day. So you’re spot on in saying not everyone will stop buying pricey fragrances simply because there’s a cheaper option. The presentation matters too.

I have been using the perfumes by Fine Fragrance and let me tell you, it's a plug!!! I have Black Opium, Eros by Versace and hypnotic poison by Dior. I absolutely love them. I bought them when they were at Greenstone Mall in 2020.

I love their perfumes, they really do last long. I have Dolce and Gabbana light blue, Versace Eros and Coco Mademoiselle, they smell absolutely amazing and last the entire day and you can’t still smell it on clothes days after.

Hey! You can also check out Branded warehouse. They have Zara perfumes too. The video is on my channel but I didn't cover the perfumes. People buy them quickly. It would be great for your scent check segment. We rarely talk about the cost of creating content. It doesn't come cheap 💔

It's the content for me n not the packaging considering that it's R50. I also look at the pharmaceutical industry as u get generic medicine that actually heals ailments hence companies would take advantage of consumers while the patent is in place. I also prefer thrifting clothes/buying on sale when stuff is about 70% off coz I find the quality that I prefer to be out of reach for my pocket when new . I think these things are about preference as someone may prefer new clothes even if it means poor quality. Thank you for the great content.

You've mentioned some valid points here sis but I think the marketing strategy chosen is hugely based on the market they're targeting. For example, if we analyze our market landscape here in SA there's a gap between the higher earning population (those who would potentially prefer the high end experience when it comes to buying their perfumes) and not mind paying for it A big portion of our population is mostly people abazizamelayo and our shopping behavior is mostly influenced by different things etc That said I think the reason they went this route is because they aren't really targeting the other group but directed at people like myself who care about the quality of the product which in this case is the product itself the "liquid" inside the bottle and not necessarily how it looks etc Already the high end brands have their target market and fortunately for them there's us abathandi zinto lol....But could care less about the packaging etc

That's very interesting. I just wonder if they would or rather will ever create something that is quality, affordable, smells good but is not riding on the coat tails of an existing formula/scent/fragrance. If they are so good, can they sell a unique fragrance that they created? Something that is not a "cheap" version of an existing brand.

I think their marketing strategy could be really altruistic. They might genuinely want to be market disruptors who are playing a long game. They might be also tapping into what we have been seeing in the global shift to accessible and affordable luxury. I can see it growing and coming up with their own combination of perfumes that is not based on the formula of the high end brands. They are testing the waters and I feel like once people know that they are reliable perfumers then they can pivot to their own brand, and they will have the consumers trust by then. I would also add bespoke things are gaining popularity worldwide so they are simply harnessing the accessible side of that. In France and in the Netherlands, the idea is to have something that is not high end. In fact flashing brands is seen as tacky and low class, it falls in the same category of people who flash their money and brands. I suppose that will soon be in south Africa. I for one with that could happen because people do need to freed from the shackles of buying things simply because of the brand. It is actually a flex in some cultures to have paid less for something amazing that you actually love and it is perceived as more enjoyable. You can get wonderful perfumes that arent high end but go tow to tow with their expensive counterparts. Thanks for this video. I hope one day your channel will grow into something like a consumer bond/ organisation where consumers can be informed and turned them into conscious consumers, we need that in our country.

I agree, I am not part of the culture that buys things because of its brand name. I dont care for a tshirt because its puma for example. I want a tshirt that looks good on me and will last. And now we are more educated on fashion and where it comes from. We all know a lot of Zara items are the same quality as a Mr Price item. So brand name items dont impress me. I would also like to see a move from the obsession of flashing brand names everywhere.

I am truly glad and grateful for new ways of accessing good products without being blinded by the brand name. Minimalistic presentation and packaging for the win!

So glad I came across this video. I am more interested in who does their marketing. I love the idea of affordable fragrance because I genuinely would not spend R15k to smell good when I can easily spend R50 so I love that and the fact that it's designer is also a bonus. But their marketing is definitely unconventional. I agree with the sweet idea... Aha I wouldn't eat them only because of paranoyer. But thank you so much for the plug

Their marketing strategy can also be defined as the 'attacking' strategy normally used by followers to attack the leaders in the market. Pepsi has done this with Coca Cola. So it's not that new... Is a way to drive traffic to their own brand. I loved loved this review

During my undergrad degree I used to wear the Gucci Rush fragrance from them, I actually still have a bottle the glass one. I stopped buying from them because I moved. I did not know they have a website. I also noticed they do not have the Gucci Rush on their website maybe it was discontinued. The perfume is really strong and has a great projection, I can't compare it to the original because I never really cared to find out.

Last year, I bought 1 bottle of Fine Fragrance Armani Si, it was amazing. This year, I ordered the set of 3 bottles online because I really loved the bottle I had bought last year. I was very impressed with their Customer Service because when I complained that the new batch smelt nothing like the one I bought last year, they responded promptly and replaced my order. Unfortunately, the new batch did not smell any better, but it's not bad. It just smells nothing like the amazing one I bought last year. Sad, but partially happy at the same time.

I saw the reviews on many FB groups and purchased 4 bottles. La Vie Est Belle, Olympea, Carolina Herrera and Tom Ford. All of these I have bottles of originals since I am obsessed with smelling good. My experience is different.I must say that I was underwhelmed. The scents didn't last long nor did I experience the lasting smell on my clothes that so many people rave about. I would rate these 2 stars.

I have been buying Fine Fragrance Collection for years, saw the documentary a while back...they even had a big billboard on N3 and M1 3 years back. Strangely enough, I have now reverted back to branded originals...found Superbalist and Takealot to have good specials on perfumes, Love your content and would love to interview you on my podcast.

Okay, after watching the documentary, I just came to think that Fine fragrance is sort of using this marketing strategy to free ride on these already well known brands. They used this "let me show you how cheap ur favorite product is made" strategy so that these already established brands cannot have a point to stand on in terms of suing them. Also they want to have an imprint as well, coz if you look at other shops or people that sells replicas of these perfumes , they do not advertise themselves (i stand to be corrected). They don't want to appear as "bad guys for using already developed fragrances. Okay there r a lot of points I noticed on why they would use this marketing strategy.

For me, I loooove perfume. I absolutely live for it, we all have a guilty splurge area and fragrance is mine. I like the brand and I've purchased from their Cresta stand, but like you said we buy more than the actual contents. Firstly, I don't like smelling like everyone else so my buying one of the "top 20 most purchased" is not going to work for me. I also enjoy styling my fragrance stands and mirror trays, so the bottle has a huge impact on whether I buy or not as well. We buy more than the scent, as you rightfully said. So they would be better-served advertising to the student demographic than bashing big corp.

I've been wearing their perfumes since high school and it lasts for days. I usually just go to their store... I noticed someone in the comments talk about plastic bottles. When you go instore, you get in a glass bottle. Maybe its just the sizes that differ. The one I usually buy is R120. The employees are great and they actually fill the perfume in front of you. I haven't tried their online store honestly so I can't comment on that and on the packaging they offer online. So I recommend you go instore. I go to the one in park Meadows but if you in east gate they do have a stall there (close to mrp/h&m/zara).

Hi Boss lady - i love your hair and specs. Soooooo I follow FINE FRAGRANCES!!! I 1st met them in Killarney. I bought 10 bottles. During Covid i needed to watch budget. Long story short......I thought ok here goes - another one - prob only last 2 hours. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!! It is very true - it is generic. I have almost all of the originals that i bought generics from Fine Fragrances. I traveled quite a bit so used to buy my perfumes at Duty Free. I couldn't believe that theirs was THIS GOOD!!!! My husband is also a perfume addict and he has changed from original to Fine Fragrance!!!! Nice one yet again!!!!
