Maybe the man and his wife have been married 47 years. You said he wanted peppermint carnations. If he let you know ahead of time , would you have been able to accommodate him? I realize you would need to have time to get them, but shouldn’t a flower shop get any kind of flower the customer wants? If he was willing to pay for it? Time and money should do the trick for any kind of flowers the man wanted! Not many men know what peppermint carnations are. (Ha ha). But 48 years ago, carnations were a very popular flower in most flower bouquets and arrangement and corsages. I don’t know what has happened over the years that people don’t want carnations anymore. I would love a bouquet like that. My husband always got me pink carnations. Nothing smells more lovely than a carnation!

A florist will always do their best to get exactly what the customer wants, but they never make a promises. Sometimes the availability or time of year make it difficult to get them. That’s why they always let the customers know if they can’t get the exact flowers they will have a back up. The customer is always aware and has to approve the back up plan. Notice she said that she wasn’t able to get those carnations so he was happy to get the red and white. Either way its a beautiful arrangement. I used to not like carnations but have grown to love them. They really are a beautiful and hardy flower! ❤️
