Designing a (video game) GUN | devlog 1

Guns are an essential part of games, and so they have to be an essential part of a game developers skill set. In this devlog I will be attempting to create a gun that not only looks good but also feels good. It is also the first devlog of a series in which I improve singular skills until I become good enough to create my first (commercial) game.

Glad to see you back deynum. I think it is awesome that you are continuing game dev. The idea of making a 2d gun from scratch is actually a pretty good lesson for rotations and vector math. I like the idea of seeing you learn game dev, especially when the videos are this well made. There are lots of little touches like the wobbly text and arrows that make it come. to live in such an entertaining way. Can't wait to see where you go from here.

thanks, although I gotta say, each time you see text, an arrow or a drawing, I probably spend like an hour animating it, but I agree it does really make the video come to live

About the part of the comment you edited out (which I could partly still see in my notifications) I agree, I change the games I work on all the time, and I also get frustrated by it, but it has happened so many times that I get really excited for a project, make a start, create the first devlog and then realize I have nowhere near the skills to continue working on it, I try for about a month, realize it really isn't gonna work and quit. And that is basically the entire reason for this video and others following it, improving my skills, whilst still being able to make videos and (partly) finish games. Hope that explains some stuff (although I don't actually know what your previous comments fully said)

I really want you and your channel to grow and become one of the best in game dev. I just wanted to tell you my thoughts. I just really appreciate your work. I am quite sorry for any misunderstandings or mistakes that I made. I just really don't want to disturb anybody. It looks very good, just one note though, the bullets shells should be ejected closer to the clip, rather than where the stock meets the barrel.
