Kevin Teasley walks through how he uses his Mellotron Micro as a sound design tool. Kevin is a music director, producer, composer, sound designer, and programmer with credits to boast. Let's put it this way - if you watched Jennifer Lopez's performances at the 2020 LIV SuperBowl or the 2021 Biden Inauguration, you've heard Kevin Teasley's work.
Born and raised in Virginia, Kevin is now based in LA with a new studio at the legendary United Recording Studios. He spends much of his time there writing and producing for his trailer and TV production music company TONIC Music + Creative.

Why would you morph the Mellotron "sound" to the point is no longer sounds like a Mellotron? You could have achieved the same result with just about any run of the mill synthesizer. I don't get it?

According to both the dictionary definition and the original patents, it isn't truly a mellotron unless it uses tapes, no matter what the badge says.

If you want to get technically picky, all mellotrons are actually Chamberlins, since the tape based playback keyboard instrument concept was originally conceived and produced by Harry Chamberlin in the USA during the late 1940's/early 1950's and the mellotron only came about because a Chamberlin salesman took one to England and sold it as his own invention to another company that hadn't heard of it before.

@@JohnLRice In a way, that's true because the Chamberlin patents also apply to Mellotrons and Birotrons. There's no dictionary definition of a Chamberlin, but the dictionary definition of a Mellotron includes all tape replay machines, including Chamberlins, Birotrons and even this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/famQhXiVlsajerM

There is a lot of ignorance surrounding mellotrons and similar instruments so I can't really fault the dictionary writers for not getting their facts straight. 😅
