my only complaint is that suchip got mean 😔 my favorite thing about them before is the head-empty puppy energy they put out. but I get why it changes, because now it matches suchobile's personality a lot better.

completely agree! I miss the dopeyness in suchip. He talked about wanting more of a 50/50 for rough and cute, but it feels like it fell too far away from the cute side for what made me love Suchip and Suchobile

Yeah, I actually really liked the compact plush like rendering of Suchip and Suchobile. The new Suchobile render is great and does make it more physically possible and intimidating, but I slightly miss the plush dragon imagery. And Suchip was way better with a more rounded back imo, it looks less unique and more like a generic dragon now. The mega evolution is absolutely fantastic though

Yess! Although I understand the purpose of the change, specially considering the awesome mega, I do not think that the old plushy style was an barrier to the menace vibe, for me is waaaaay cooler an pokemon that seem friendly but it's actually pure chaos and said chaos comes out on its mega

I like Suchip's original eyes better - they led to an overall derpier face that I think really work. OG Suchip gave me big Gluttony from FMA vibes. Which is really perfect. New Suchip? I'm getting a little more anklebiter/chihuahua feel. Like it could be a Dragon/Dark type.

Suchobile is honestly one of my favorite designs in this entire series and I so dearly wish it was canon. That being said, I do feel like Suchip’s new design loses a bit of the dumb puppy energy it has before, especially with the change in eye design. I know it’s to bring the two closer together, but I did really like the goofiness of Suchip. Mega Suchobile is terrifying, I love it.

What I loved about the old Suchobilew design is that the way its tail curved upwards, made the space between it's back and tail look like an extra mouth, which fit perfectly into its inspiration.

I didn’t feel any particular way about Suchip or Suchobile before, but somehow with these redesigns they’ve tipped into being some of my faves! So much character and charm to them that I love, and the shapes are so much more appealing to me now

the shapes of mega milotics pink fins make it seem/look alien in nature which i think really adds to the personality of "too good to be true"/"something of beauty that should not be trusted" that you were trying to convey with it!

I think its Kind of a miss that you discarded the thick muscular tail of suchobile, since it held a big portion of its menacing nature, possibly beeing used as a club or smth, like the stegoaur would propably do it.

Probably unintentional, but the lore+design of Suchobile and it's Mega Evolution would actually tie in really well to an odd little thing that happened in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, where Guzzlord's Ultra Space is an alternate reality of Alola that seems to be in a state of worldwide disaster, and Guzzlord is used as some kind of cleanup, which would imply Guzzlord either was created, or evolved from an existing Pokémon, but there's no official confirmed origin yet as to what Guzzlord came from. Maybe Suchobile could fit right in as a 'missing link' of sorts

I know this is an odd comment but the silhouettes were so good! Mega Milotic was in the thumbnail so that was obvious and I didn’t actually watch the videos where you introduced Suchobile line but as soon as I saw the third silhouette I thought to myself, “Wait, is that a mega Skarmoey?” Its really cool that your able to convey a different form of a Pokémon just by their silhouette and just a testament to how great the designs are! Keep it up!

I love the new poses, it really does make the characters more tangible. Suchip and Suchobile are much more animated in my mind now, suchip really looks like it’s sitting just a bit too close to the kitchen waiting for scraps and the change to it’s proportions immediately bring a kind of lizard-like scrabbling run to mind. I really enjoy suchobile’s new pose though, as an animal nerd I’m drawing parallels between the way crocs really heft themselves up to walk and can stand up surprisingly high to look bigger. Plenty of reptiles also puff themselves up to look more intimidating, which I can imagine suchobile scrunching itself up more to emphasise the giant mouth in battle! Immaculate job!!

Love to see more love for the Mazah Region! I feel like Suchip got angy boy from his eyes, but could be scaled back a bit. Mega Milotic’s ability is very strong; Awestrike. Instead of halving all stats by 50% for 3 turns, you could make it the first Attack/Sp Attack drop on switch in/activation like Intimidate. To improve on the dangerous beauty concept, you could have some of the scales of the tail become jagged and rougher, but partially cover it with the new fins that extend downward over the body. Mega Skarmory’s HP stat shouldn’t change. I would recommend investing 20 base stats into Attack and the remaining 5 in speed: 65 HP/160 Attack/145 Defense/40 SpAttack/70 SpDef/100 Speed. This would put it about on par with Mega Scizor who is 70/150/140/65/100/75 respectively. I cannot wait to play this game; keep up the great work!

Love the new designs so much! These are amazing! I do have one thought, and idk if this just me, but I prefer the more vibrant lighter purpley-pink and stronger yellow that Suchobile had in your sketches. More vibrant versions of the colors original Suchobile had, just because the super dark blue/purple with the pale yellow makes the whole design feel a little less vibrant. It does capture the monstrous feeling better, but it just looks less vibrant and dynamic, versus the lighter colors. I think the darker colors work really well on the Mega, as that design goes fully in on the monstrous parts of it, and if normal Suchobile was lighter and more colorful that would help convey the personality difference between it and it's Mega form more clearly. Love your work and thanks for making all these stunning designs!

I was think about how Suchobile walks being all scrunched up and this is how I imagine is it and I think it would be adorable: 1. Suchobile is in a Neutral stand all scrunched 2. They start walking forward with only their front legs until their body is fully extended 3. Their back legs then come in and they walk with their legs up high, front legs moving opposite of back legs like a classic croc but more exaggerated 4. Poor boy gets tired, stopping their front legs but their back legs keep going until they are scrunched once more

I absolutly love the treatment on mega milotic's hair and face. The texture and colour used really sell the "beautiful but dangerous" aspect of it, like the red is dark enough near the face to give it a more sombre look without taking away the beauty. It sort of reminds me of Walking Wake, the reptilian look with a mane does look very special and ancient and I adore it.

I was so excited when I saw suchobile's silhouette! And the re-design is just as, if not, cooler and more ferocious! The Mega somehow manages to be even MORE ferocious! I'm not certain if this was intentional, but the way it's positioned reminds me of a lot of the official mega mawhile art, with it turning around to showcase the two huge mouths that it gains. Overall, I think its super cool and I am definitely using it on my team when the full game is out!

All of these were insane, mega milotic looks downright gorgeous and Mega suchabile is extremely intimidating. For other megas I would say definitely give some to the starters and also the Kalos starters. Edit: Mazian Persian would be insane with a mega, especially if you lean into Tezcatlipoca. Mak’wahurt being the sudo would also have a crazy mega. Hawlucha would have more Gen 6 megas which there is currently one and it’s a luchador. Finally having a mega roadraptor that was a full on celestial dinosaur would just be pure awesome.

Hey Jack, I have been a big fan of the Mazah region and all the fakemon that live there! I myself are a fakemon artist as well and am planning on posting in the future, but there is 1 thing I am struggliling with and have noticed you are great at is shading and lighting! It would be great for me and other people if you could consider making a video about how you make your desings and the brushes you use for drawing shading and lighting! I hope you consider it but even if you don't i still want to thank you for filling youtube with great content!

I recognized immediately the mythic inspiration when the knee-jaws appeared, and I'm THERE for it! I just feel that, while all its Mega form's other aspects, like the legs, the maw, the original head being shoved to the back, all have purpose, its tail is just... there. I feel like it could have brought something to the design since it's now at the forefront. Maybe having it curled into yet another jaw with its current spikes as the teach, or being rooted in the larger jar like a tongue.

One thing interesting about megas is that all megas have something they suffer from. Mega Sharpedo's Pokedex entry mentions that it feels pain in all its old wounds when it Mega Evolves. So it would be interesting if the Suchobile was suffering from hunger or the acid in the gaping mouth. Or the skarmory suffering from blades moving so drastically fast in it's body.

When I design megas, sometimes I'll give the Pokemon receiving the Mega a little bit of a stat buff in both forms so that they can do well with or without their mega

In order to make the corrosion ability feel useful, give the suchubile line a signature move that is a version of poison fang w/ 5 or 10 pp and 80-95 Base Power and 50% chance to toxic the target

I truly wonder if youve ever considered working with pokemon, your designs are so creative and beautiful, and you are so diverse with each pokemon you create. I truly wish artists like you could come and breathe new life into the games instead of getting what feels like a few good pokemon then just- filler. Suchobile might be my favorite Mazean Pokemon. Love seeing it. No critiques of the redesign. Absolutely adore the Mega - it's definitely what I wanted to see. That said, a couple ideas to push it even further: - give it a mouth at the end of its tail, resembling an ankylosaurus club - the drool/bubbling acid in its big mouth? Shape some of the popping bubbles and hanging drool to *resemble* additional mouths. That second one in particular I think would take it to the next level.

You could integrate the myth of Quetzalcoatl becoming the Sun of the second World as the Basis for Mega Quetzillian. I could envision two poses: One very confident one, where its just an erect figure, wings outstretched, the Crown and head being engulfed in churning flames and solar eruptions... Or a more curled-up shape, where the wings cup the body and the faint young sun its cradleing.

Hold up, Skarmory was based on the stymphalian birds from greek mythology though. I've always felt a mega for it should gain poison typing or an ability that gives all of its offensive attacks a chance to inflict poison.

Suchip is now an official member of the bite club like Fuecoco, Totodile, Sandile and Gible. (Also that mega Suchobile is so raw it gives me Skeledirge vibes and i just adore Skeledirge so this is a win!

I think that a Mega Rotatona could incorporate the fact it's an Aztecan calendar by implementing time energy spilling from it's body/turn it into sort of opening portal (similar in appearance to an ultra beast wormhole maybe?)

mega suckobile looks absolutely terrific! especially love the dripping mouth. Milotic looks majestic, but maybe its ability is a bit too much, knowing how you could just switch it in and out. Maybe I would make it halve offensive stats for 5 turns instead of all stats (kinda like giving your opponent slow start)

Great designs! My only suggestion is that Mega Suchobile’s tail should have some sort of gripping tool at the tip so that it can feed itself. (Like a claw, hand, or prong) in that case you’d have to re orient the tail spikes to make that feasible. Perhaps a v pattern down the sides ? Regardless, great work. Love them all.

I simply adore all of these designs, please never stop redesigning the Mazah Pokedex, I don’t want it to end. Mega Suchobile is simply killer, I adore it. The way you positioned its tail below the jaw, I thought you may have tried to make the tail look like a lolling tongue, waiting to pull its victims into its mouth. Also, i have a curiosity, which if any gen 9 Pokémon do you think would make it’s way into the Mazah region? Do you have any ideas for Gen 9 Megas, I can definitely think if a few that just need *something* more to their design … Can’t wait to see what you do next !

One of my favorite concepts so far is Mazian Roserade and the day of the dead inspo. I think it could be really cool to make a mega version that really plays up the contrast between the ghostly darkness and the bright colorfulness of the flowers and sugar skulls

it could only work once for battle and even then it would be busted since you would get free setup on the first turn youre in.

@@_Jotop I think even once a battle it would be OP, it basically forces a switch out as there's no way you could survive more than a couple of turns with your defense stats halved and you wouldn't be able to do anything with them with your defense stats halved. So then milotic gets a free turn to attack whenever it first enters battle If you did want to balance it maybe halving all stats once but only for one turn would be workable

You're right it limits the selection of the mons you can use and true it would take a lot of work to implent changing types and stats. However if they make signature moves for all final evolutions it can be a gimmick to stay example beedrill with kamikaze sting +1 priority poison move 120 base power but if you use it beedrill will faint.... this will give beedrill a sense of uniqueness other than a weak base stat bug and poison. Imagine if all mons final evolution have special move. These can constantly be added and every generation will have new moves to add to the competitive pool and regional variations can switch up existing mons. These moves can be used once per battle.

Alright, let's move down the list. 1) I adore your take on mega Skarmory. The way the "feathers" jut out of its wings really add to the wild and untamed vibe that characterizes most mega Pokémon. My only complaint is the dark gray chevron you added at the end of the design. It's body isn't the main attraction here, it's the wings, so it makes more sense to leave its chest blank in my opinion, and let the texture work serve to keep the viewers interest instead of adding a last second shape that, again in my opinion, feels almost entirely redundant. That being said, this design is absolutely genius. 4/5. 2a) I'll be honest; i don't like how you changed Suchip that much here. The original design was incredibly well done, and had a ton of character, but this new change makes it just feel generically aggressive. Perhaps it's just me, but it almost feels like a middle evolution, though I don't want to rely too much on Pokémon traditions for this criticism. if it were up to me, i would simply take the original Suchip, and simply re-render it in this new style and pose while keeping it's features primarily intact. The main thing I can point to that I dislike are the eyes and... eyebrows? horns? regardless, in the original design, they portrayed character very well. The dopey expression gave the idea of a "head empty" pokemon that really want's to do nothing but eat, but in this new design, the exaggerated eye features are not only distracting, since they take focus away from Suchip's mouth, they're also generally uninteresting. 2/5. 2b) I don't have much to say with this design. Suchobile was one of my favorite Mazah designs, and it probably still is, if only because it's largely unchanged from the original iteration. If I were to offer criticism, i would say that the expression feels like it has less character than the original. I really liked the smug knowing look that Suchobile had in it's original art, and i wish that was more preserved here. aside from that, I feel like the change from the golden lines that run down it's body to these sharp shapes was a largely unnecessary change, and I do prefer the original lines, though again, that's a subjective opinion. Honestly, I feel like your first draft for the redesign was pretty top notch, and would easily be a 5/5, though I'll have to give the finished version a 4/5 instead. 2c) PERFECT. 5/5. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE... That was my first reaction to you're initial design. The initial design had so much going for it. The way the shapes were exaggerated, the way the spikes of the original Suchobile were recontextualized as horns, the darker purple scales at the very top of the second mouth. If you had just stuck with this initial design, it would have been perfection made manifest. You're second design, in my opinion, was slightly weaker than your first, with the shape of the second mouth feeling slightly less interesting, and the absence of the darker scales on the top of the head being sorely missed, but i did like the little drop of acid out the corner of the mouth. as for the final design, I'm honestly fairly disappointed. The top half of the second mouth feels weirdly squished, and the way it's shaped feels uncomfortable. To be honest, if you just took the top half of your initial mouth and used it for your final design, i could see it working super well. Unfortunately, I'll have to give this design a 3/5. 3) My only real complaint with this design is the last second unconsidered fins you added. I don't have much else to say about this design. 4/5.

What I adore about these is not just the designs, but the selection. The main gameplay function of Mega Evolution was to give Pokémon who were left behind in competitive viability and breathe new life into them, which is why Pokémon introduced afterward, with the exception of the mythical Pokémon Diancie who got one becuase movie tickets and merch sales. Both Skarmory and Milotic fit, with Corviknight taking the role Skarmory had and Milotic being a victim of general power creep, there is a genuine reason to give them each a mega evolution outside of popularity unlike the travesty that was Mega Garchomp. I'm not sure how I feel about giving a region native a mega evolution because both are being designed concurrently and at that point there is an argument to be made that the Pokémon should just be made better rather than giving it a boost. The designs are really cool though and that can't be understated. I just really want to point out that it felt like some thought was put into Mega selection rather than "Wouldn't it be cool if [Popular Pokémon that is already good] got *_EVEN BETTER_*!!??111?!"

Your redesign for the dragon Pokémon are honestly such huge improvements !! Not only do they look way more like Pokémon, the designs are much easier to read and I find them much more likeable. Great job ! If I would change anything, maybe Suchobile's back jaw could be slightly more spherical and the tail on the older designed felt a bit more tangible. It's the junction area between the two I find a bit weird when contrasted with the style of the face. But honestly it's very nitpicking at this point.

There's honestly a spectrum for how much Mega forms look like their original. Remember Sableye? All they did for its Mega form was just give it a big crystal shield, and that's it. Your Mega Milotic is fine, in fact I really like it.

These are such cool designs! Skarmory always had a special place in my heart since it was on my og Ruby team and it's wonderful to see it get some love. You really did it's mega justice!! Also I love the suchobile's lines shinies! The colors remind me of Kirby, which totally suits it since they both eat eeeeverything. I would love to see how you would handle a mega for a route one normal type like linoone, patrat or furret. They tend to evolve and reach their max potential early, so I think they would really benefit both competitively and design-wise from a mega! (Also I'm biased because furret is my favorite pokemon and would love to see my little noodle get some love)

AWESOME DESIGNS!! A bit of a correction though, the base HP of the pokemon does not increase when it mega evolves, this is a set rule/standard as all pokemon who mega evolve retain their base HP stat, unless you do know this and chose to break the standard in which case that would be a unique implementation!

Suchip and Suchibile were exactly what I wanted from fuecoco's line! most people hated that Meowscarada stood up, I hated that fuecoco took so long to get down on his four legs. He's kind of cute and silly but that wasn't what I wanted from a starter, I wanted something that looked more like the animal it was based on then an abstract art piece. Ik this has nothing to do with the video, but that's all I could think of when I saw your amazing designs! I'll be seeing your beautiful pokemon in my dreams!!!

Love that Suchobile got a mega, but kinda hoped that his tail would somehow turn into a tungue protruding outside of the mouth and give him a pair of larger fangs at the back where the tungue would go in between. Just imagine mega Suchobile snatching smaler pokemons whith its tungue/tail and putting it into its mouth (maybe a bit dark)

I've got some ideas of mega evolving my own pokemon along with some original ones in my own regions where Mega Evolution is present. I like Mega Skarmory's pterosaur design but it lacks something I can't quite describe. Mega Milotic is definitely a siren to behold if encountered in battle. Nice job redesigning the Suchobile line and a good job on the mega form for Suchobile (kind of makes me think of a yokai like what Mawile is based on but creepier). All in all, I'm reminded of TerminalMontage's animation of mega Pokemon battling eachother, and I can see your designs and mine in his style of animation (including poor Flygon who does seem empty without a mega form; still like the first design of Mega Flygon).

Love what you did with Suchobile! I have to wonder though, maybe you could make it’s bottom jaw larger? Give it some sort of underbite or tusks? That could help define its silhouette more, while still maintaining and increasing its initial character and personality

Chuckles. “I’m in danger.” On a more serious note, I do like the new Pokémon but I think I would prefer if Mega Milotics tail was a bit bigger. Like it could create a small tsunami by smacking its tail in the water. In summary, I guess I’m asking for more of a “We’re gonna need a bigger boat” energy from it.

One minor issue for suchobile is that it still feels small. First because it is looking upwards at something bigger/taller, and second because its pose and hunched back makes it look like a defensive house cat. I think just changing where suchobile is looking and grounding its front left leg would fix this easily.

How about some megas for regional variants? Elttar could pull from prehistoric snakes in the area or more mythological bases like the basilisk or snake of eden. Roserade could tie into the lore and be a full on seance holder. Or on a different note, Specterzal could get a mega to give it the same number of "evolutions" as the Quetzalil line, furthering their rivalry

Along with Guzzlord, kinda like how Mega Suchobile’s posture in the image has similarities to Mawile and its Mega stand with its ponytail jaws facing the viewer. Almost intentionally deceiving; a cute Pokemon with a terrifying alternate persona.

I actually love the changes to the croc line!! Not a pokemon I would have chosen before but the details really make it! My only issues is I wish the eyes were more puppy like as they had been before. I also love milotic but something about the mega seems off? Like the head seems to far away from milotics style and the face looks too mean? I wish it was a bit more wispy and maybe adorned like the hair pins gesha wear? and maybe the use of translucent fins make milotic seem like its wearing a kimono as texture instead of the hair like affect? Just food for thought. Love your work!

If you haven't already done so, I think a Mazah Hoothoot/Noctowl would be really cool! Something like a ground/flying type making it immune to electric. A mega Noctowl would be pretty dope too.

If you're taking suggestions for Pokemon to give Mega Evolutions to, I have a few suggestions. First, naturally I'd suggest giving Megas to either the 3 Mazah Starter Final Stages, or the 2 box art Legendaries. Also, Mazah doesn't seem to have any Mono Typed Megas yet, so you could give your Steel Armadillo (forgot it's name, sorry) a Mono Steel Typed Mega Evolution. You could even design the shell on its back after a Master Ball. Also, Mega Froslass might be a good idea since Mazah could use more Ice & Ghost types, and that'd also allow the Mono Ice Typed Mega Glalie into Mazah as well. Plus since both Gardevoir & Gallade were able to have the Mega treatment, it's only fair both Glalie & Froslass can have it as well.
