I just held a speech introdusing my student kolleagues at the Bauhaus design University in Dessau, germany about the Venus Project. I am allways a little bit sad, that most people never heard about it and most dont have faith in Humanity. The typical counter argoument is just: humans couldnt do that, we are to aggressive. I hope that at one point we will be able to create the first test city to show, that people grown up in a different coulture realy can achieve something. And if its just being more tolerate and less aggresive it would be enough. Greetings and keep on!

There should be a global strike and demand for a global change, rather than the elitists having control of our decisions. Nothing will change dramatically as we are slaves to their control. isn't it strange when there's a disaster we as a global community come together to collectively give money to the charities to help those in need. yet my question is this, why should we spend our money to save people lifes, when all we are doing is pocketing more money to help those elitist be more enriched. we should not be using money as a means to save a life. we are still primitive

When we will start to build first city? Maybe never all people will not want to help us. Let's start now. Who wanna help will go to one place and put work into. I have no idea how to live. I am 27. I am from Poland but I live in UK. I must rent a Flat cuz I haven't money to buy own house with my wife. I'm going to job every day and I know it doesn't make sense but I know that system cannot let me live in different way. I live from weekend to weekend. From holiday to holiday. This is stupid. Routine.
@therealKINDLE7 жыл бұрын
I agree. You are totally correct. You & your wife deserve more. There's a polish guy who lives in the block of flats opposite mine, & he works SO hard. So So hard =_( He washes cars for a living. It's not right to see the polish exploited like this just because they are desperate for cash. In the venus project, you would be able to choose which field you want to learn, & you wouldn't be trapped inside for 8 hours a day either. The human body needs relaxation, joy, time to exercise, time to travel, to love, to write, read, & live life. What we have now is the equivalent of the Kneck Bracelets in Game of Thrones. Slavery. It breeds depression.

I absolutely adore the designs and engineering ideas of the Venus Project, however the longer I think about the more concerned I grow about the psychological aspects that will have an influence on the adoption of such a society. For example, one of the greatest issues I have with communism is that it demands absolute control for it to work, and so can be very totalitarian. I see this with the Venus Project because it requires the world to confederate and bring together all the world’s resources before it can be effectively implemented. Another concern is regarding the rule of law. Sure, in a society where scarcity is not an issue crime would drastically decrease, however I think the idea that we will ever be able to completely eradicate crime without dispensing with the doctrine of freedom is a bit absurd. There are biological factors involved that influence a person’s likelihood to commit crime and by no means am I advocating for a sort of system like that movie where AI is used to predict crimes and arrest them before they do anything, but what do we do with those that still cling to anti-social behavior? We can’t just kill them lol! I mean, banishment is an option, but how do you prevent them from coming back? Do people have the right to weapons to protect themselves in a society like this? Do we throw them in a looney bin for the rest of their days? To me, it seems like a very slippery slope to totalitarianism, and I would be very wary about how this would all be implemented. I’ll share one more concern with you all. Hierarchy is not necessarily a bad thing. There is such a thing as competence and not everyone is good at everything, so a hierarchy based on competence brings order into chaos so that we have a balance, and that is very important I think. Complete order is totalitarian and there is no point to living, but complete chaos is equally as disheartening. Correct me if I’m wrong, but this seems like a high-tech anarchy where an incredibly powerful AI network performs the tedious, repetitive and overall maintenance work, so if that is the case then what happens to the billions of people who are now thrown into a completely new world where they needn’t do much at all. One of the virtues of money is that it compels people to be productive, and I personally know many people who, given half a chance, would rather sit at home for the rest of their lives eating and playing video games. How do we deal with those people? Can we truly create such abundance that we can leave them to their own devices without people becoming bitter that such people are consuming without contributing to a better world?
@theuserfromwakanda54977 жыл бұрын
Hi Jarryd Brown. I'm going to try and respond to your concerns point by point : - Keeping track of all the world resources is not really totalitarian. Doing it doesn't impinge on anyone's rights. Moreover, I personally think that we do not need to make the entire world shift from here to there, all at once - a RBE can be implemented gradually, and hopefully more and more people in different regions of the world would see the benefits of making the transition. - I also think crime cannot be completely eradicated. I am not sure I have the perfect solution, but I guess we would still need some sort of institutions to deal with some situations. Also, keep in mind that "the perfect society" doesn't exist, so there will always be some problems - even a society with a RBE would be in constant change, and people would work towards making the system more and more efficient. - TVP advocates for a society without a government. So I'm assuming everyone would have the right to own guns. However, I believe most of the people in the world are not pro-guns, it's a hot debate only in the US as far as I know - so maybe it will be authorized in some parts of the world and not in others, or forbidden everywhere... At this point, we cannot know how this will turn out. Anyway, the need for guns would be minimal. - "Hierarchy", as you defined it in your comment, is not necessarily incompatible with a RBE. People who are acknowledged as "competent" and "experts" could be appointed to supervise important tasks and large global endeavors. And anyone is free to participate if they want to. - I also personally know many people (including myself) who, given half a chance, would be free to do what they like and create solutions to better society as a whole. The competent voluntarists are already out there, it's just that they are not free because they have to earn money to survive. And about people who "would just be lazy all their lives" and "would not contribute to a better world" is not entirely true... We do not have to deal with this "problem" because it is not a problem. When given the time to, people always do what they like to maximise their happiness, be it playing music, dancing, cooking, gardening, programming, designing, creating robots or playing video games. Nothing would give anyone the right to prevent people to do what they like because they "don't contribute to a better world", as long as they're not harming anyone. Humankind has reached a level of advancement where we can allow ourselves to let people live their lives comfortably the way they see fit. And the ideal would be not to judge them whatever their lifestyle and choices.

Hey there, love the idea of a advanced society. But one thing does bother me though: What do we do with crime or terrorist attacks? I know the idea is that it's a future with no crime and we all contribute to it but I believe that crime will still happen no matter what and with different motivations. So how can we deal with such things? Will we still have a justice system of some sort? Also with terrorism, will we have some sort of defense system or some sort of military unit for protection? A society that wants peace must be prepared to defend themselves from outside threats. Like what if aliens come to invade Earth? What is your input on this?
@theuserfromwakanda54977 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I didn't see TVP addressing this situation, but I guess we would still need some sort of defense system, with an army of volunteers and/or engineers creating new solutions to protect society from terrorists (not necessarily killer robots, but it might be a temporary option).
@Mistea847 жыл бұрын
you are right, if a part of humanity begins in some way this project they should be able to protect against OTAN, just to name one terrorist group. the problem is that some of this terrorist organizations have nuclear weapons (like otan), how do you protect against that in order to not become another nagasaky, and yet, sustain a population that wants peace, and produce the materials needed to sustain the development of such a project? remember that unless you already have all you need in the piece of land where you build this city, trade will be needed.

I feel like population would need to be wiped out drastically first for this to work, and then when we rebuild after all the destruction (whoever is left) we turn to this. I’m talking massive massive destruction (it will look like hell first) before this can happen. Hopefully I’m wrong. But getting people to give up their nationalist pride and prejudices and money and power will be tough. Along with corporations, fast food mentality, lazy people, people who consume and love entertainment (nothing wrong with that), but what about the people who aspire to be Entertainers, will there be a need for them at all? There won’t really be hierarchies.. is that a human need? What do humans really want out of life, is it our nature, does this go against our nature..I’m not entirely sure.
@KristoferProphet7 жыл бұрын
To add to this, I am not against this idea I love it.. but what about the crazy people? Drug addicts, people who are kind of born that way? Some people are just born kind of kooky and nuts sometimes.. where do they fit into his society? You can’t deny that some people are just born a certain way. We’re banking on the premise of if people just have what they need they won’t go off the deep end in any way... this would require a harshness.. there isn’t a need for some people like this should they be eliminated? Also what kind of structure would people follow, that is important, family structures, comedy, leisure times, dealing with death. God is still a question. Maybe psychedelics should be a requirement to take?

Great concept for a city, but I would make changes for version 1.0 of a REAL practical version. Need to start out small. Buy land; Utah, California, Nevada, etc... then build the basic buildings, recruit or invite like-minded people No single-family homes. Communal apartments on the outside ring, with capsule hotel pods, (search KZbin for Chinese capsule hotel for the type. The pods are around $2000) The green areas of this place would be a park and vertical farm, NO homes!

I completely disagree with the colonization of the oceans. I don't think we have the right to destroy the oceans too. We've already taken up almost all land on earth and destroyed almost everything that exists because of capitalism. We need to stop using money and start using sanity. Look at population growth and tell me there isn't a problem. There is currently a 2:1 birth/death ratio. We are now generating 1 BILLION extra people every 10 years as of now and next it will be 9 years, then 8, then 7 etc. This isn't sustainable and colonizing the oceans isn't fixing the route cause of the problem. Infinite growth doesn't work on a finite planet and that applies to us humans as well.
@late26477 жыл бұрын
Hi! I recommand you take a course on demographic shifts. The growth rate is decreasing as countries are developping, lowering the birth / death ratio below 1 in many industrialised countries. This is a trend we observe throughout recent history. The U.N predicted that there would never be more than 20 billion or so people at the same time on the planet, and their prediction (though not infaillible) is in accordance with those trends ! Check out Kurzgesagt - in a nutshell's video about that. I think it's called population growth or something around those lines. It's well put and they provide their sources :)

@Hip Movement Again, you are commenting on something you do not understand. You just make assumptions and judgements about subject matter you have no experience with or have any idea the intent of. If you did your own research into what Jacques thought we should do with the oceans, you'd know that he hopes that societies of the future will do everything they can to preserve the environment and restore the ecological systems. There won't be any opinions or decisions made by people on what to do. So, if the goal or value system of the society is to preserve the natural environment and help heal the ecosystems, ie. the lifeforms and natural earthly features of a given location, then a Venus Project type society would be able to rapidly address these issues without the insanity of the bureaucracy and agenda system that we are presented with today. That is literally all a resource based economy aims to do. If you would just do a little of your own research you might come up with more interesting questions that can't be answered through just 10 or 15 minutes of your own looking around.
@themessiahsgovernmentofint21697 жыл бұрын
I am worried that there will be global famine within the next 10 years due to market inflation. The majority will die off and the ultra rich will survive. I can't see society making a collective agreement to transition to a resource based economy because that would mean all countries would have to drop capitalism at the same time! If that happened the entire system would collapse and famine would occur. Although TVP is an amazing idea, I don't think we can get there without massive die offs. As it stands now, money has no moral rules or regulations and anyone can obtain it. This is a major problem. I thought of an idea last night: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to turn a divided system into a collaborative system to avoid total economic collapse. Money can't be borrowed or earned without obeying these principles: Your product or service must promote unity, empathy, morality, equality and sustainability on a global scale. Your product or service must be ecologically friendly. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In order to implement this we would have to put pressure on the Rothschild family to get it passed. This is just an idea to avoid total economic collapse on route to a civilized society.
@themessiahsgovernmentofint21697 жыл бұрын
@Bored Boar: Like google play store has almost all free games because they are based on ads but we give up all our privacy and rights. I am all for a Resource Based Economy but it has to be owned and controlled by sane people and I don't think that is likely to happen. A fluctuating global population cap would have to be implemented but who decides these rules? The global government. But who is in control of the global government? The Rothschilds. They are the owner of all things. Trustable people? HA, no.
