There is nothing wrong with spinning fiber as is or as dyed, but sometimes, it's useful to challenge yourself to design yarn rather than just spin it. Instead of allowing the fiber to be spun and plied as is and letting the colors fall where they may, what if YOU decide what and where you want the colors to be and how they blend together?
Doing so takes a little prep and often a bit (or a lot!) of thought, but this processing challenge can be satisfying and stimulating. It requires the removal of sections of singles that do not work for the overall look of your project and rejoining.

This video shows me taking the card shown, the 8 of Emotions, and interpreting it into yarn.
How do you think I did? Did I successfully translate this artistic tarot card into a skein of yarn? :)
My hope is this video inspires you to think about spinning yarn differently and adds another skill to your fiber arts repertoire.
