Terrific job on the figures. You make it look easy...but it is not. I have read a lot of articles on figure painting that say not to paint eyes because it is unrealistic in 1/35. I disagree with that advice and prefer to paint eyes as they give the figure its distinct personality. Your technique nails the eyes very effectively. The figures will really come to life in your diorama. I have tended to paint my figures strictly with acrylics even though I have an extensive collection of Abteilung oils. I am going to have to give them a try after seeing how well you applied and blended the shadows and highlights.

Thank you Paul, I know the discussion about eyes on 1/35 figures and sometimes I think it is better not to paint them. It depends on the facial expression. But the main rule for painting eyes on the little scales is: Paint them as small as possible and don`t use pure white for the eyeballs. Another tip on using oil colors. Give a little amount from the tube on a piece of cardboard and wait for a couple of hours before you start to paint. The cardboard sucks the excessive oil out of the colors. When you start to paint straight from the tube you will get a slimy and shiny surface on your model. Don´t worry If the oil paints get to dry. You can reactivate them until 2 or 3 days with white spirit. Paint in steps and give the oil paints a day for drying until you go on with the paint job. When you think your model is to shiny then give your paint job an acrylic matte overcoat after a drying. If you have any further questions, don´t hesitate to ask.

Which brand are the figures from?

The figures are regular from TAMIYA. For the heads I used some from a resin head exchange kit from WARRIORS. But they are very old. I don´t know if they are still on the market.
