Just found your video. Down envelopes...BRILLANT!!! I made two, from a perfectly good comforter that I was no longer using, to plump, the bottom cushions on my couch. The comforter was extra lofty fiberfill so when you get up cushion recovers immediately! Even my husband noticed. Thanks so much for this fabulous idea!

I am redoing a cane back couch that has three cushions into a single cushion couch. I want a little crown on it. I have been looking at down alternative or down mattress toppers online thinking that they could be folded and sewn to create an envelope. Do you think that might work? My new cushion would be 23" deep and 68 inches wide. I'm not sure how thick it should be 5 or 6 inches. I want that old French settee look. Not sure if I should pipe it or not.

Hello Laurie. If I were considering using a down alternative or down mattress topper, I'd have to experiment with that. As far as how thick the cushion should be, you want the top of the cushion at a normal seat height which is somewhere between 18-20", so keep that in mind. Piping is going to be your call. However, the french mattress cushions have a stitched edging which is done by hand. Enjoy sewing and creating!

Hello Shannon. Thanks for watching the video! The purpose of a down wrap is to add loft and softness to foam cushions. It has nothing to do with preventing quills from poking through pillows.

Is the cushion made of actual bird feather's? If 'yes' can we machine wash them? Do they degrade overtime and make dust?

The down envelope is made from goose down. It is best to have these dry cleaned rather than washing.
