My personal favorite is a decent desktop someone at home that can turn it on when im out of the country else I keep my desktop on and just stream it to my little Surface. Having a little laptop with internet connection is all you need to have your powerful render machine with you! Although great comparison!

I also do this, i just use remote desktop to use my desktop at home from a laptop and i can boot it up via WOL and works very good. Big advantage of a desktop is the fan noise it doesn't make. And the laptop also stays very quiet when i use remote desktop.

@@iammarceljanseni personally use Parsec which is a gaming streaming program as it got more options to dabble with when streaming perhaps to a worse internet. But it really is a very neat possibility!

@@iammarceljansen Have you tried Parsec instead of Remote Desktop? I have come to notice that Parsec has much less lag in Revit and Rino compared to Remote Desktop.

Great video Jeff, thanks, and congrats for a new beast :) I agree with you that having both workstations is not needed, even though I have them 😊 bearing in mind that laptop is almost always slower than a PC, a regular Revit user for most of the tasks, except rendering, will not spot it. Enjoy working on a new PC 😉

I do not understand the total cost. There is a company that specializes in deliding the processors in Pennsylvania for around 80 dollars. Overclocking and testing all done by them. Is ATG doing anything special to the motherboard or the ram or anything else that would add 3000 thousand dollars. I would say that there would have to be something so proprietary done that it should be pointed out to justify the price.

it is getting to the point that the highest end laptops make the most sense since they are both powerful and portable - the new MSI Titan 18 4k or Razer 18 4k is my next system unless dell comes out with an 18 inch 4k model shortly (I like dell's next day hardware / same day software premium warranty service).

Looking at some of the weird aliexpress hardware with mini itx motherboards made with laptop chipsets and often mobile cpus (usually with igpu) but clocked for desktop and with a 16x pcie port. If reliable vendors would get more creative, we could build very small itx systems with lower power consumption...

Love the portability of laptops but the ability to upgrade certain components is what discouraging me. You do most at least 3 years before that thing becomes obsolete.

Hello, could you teach me how to configure the scroll button of mouse to move on iPad when use Revit? It is the only thing that I have not been able to do. In your video where on your iPad you use your computer you can rotate the model of revit using the scroll of the mouse. I have looked for a way to do it and I have not been able to do it, when I press the scroll what it does is selecting instead of move, please help me, it's something I haven't been able to solve in a long time and I'm frustrated.

I have a laptop with no GPU. Revit works fine. I need nothing more. (I do not make any renderings. Only design and technical drawings.)

I have an Alienware laptop and it's been great but it's not very portable, considering trying a surface for some smaller on the go tasks. P.S. like the sweatshirt, love fly fishing!

With bimbox being mainly marketed towards companies is there a pc that you’d recommend for college students?

Depends on your budget… would be the best specs you can get on your budget 🤷🏻♂️ …

My custom-built Desktop is the exact same spec as the tested BIMBOX desktop and I got around 50 in RFO. I built my computer for $3300 and I bet that spec on BIMBOX is above $7000. I just don't understand what the addition 3000 in cost is. Do they have some special service or something? As someone who knows what computer parts cost, BIMBOX's pricing always offended me lol.
@TheRevitKid10 ай бұрын
You can talk to BIMBOX about it but they do over clock, delid, and more … on top of a great warranty and support. Building yourself will always be cheaper over someone else… of course. Also, I’m at $3300 without the case and power supply right now … so I think your specs are a little different.
