nice to see that you're just boating, not trying to critique anything.

Another great trip guys. You are my inspiration. Finally purchased my 2006 bayliner 285 and am planning some great trips for next year. I don’t have to be jealous anymore. Thanks

Great video and love your boat! We live in North Vancouver and just purchased a Bayliner 245 to do trips exactly like this. We need those inflatable kayaks! :)

Hope you're having fun on your new boat. The kayaks are awesome - Advanced Elements inflatable kayaks - highly recommended!

Nice tour of the area. You were not far from our family cabin on Okeover Arm at one point.

Thanks, we were just up there again for a holiday. Stayed 2 days at Grace Harbour and visited the Laughing Oyster - probably cruised right by your cabin again!

Wonderful trip and thanks for sharing. Could you provide a sense of fuel cost for such a trip on your boat? I am contemplating the purchase of a boat... powerboat or sailboat is the decision?? Thanks, Karl
@C2Sky16 жыл бұрын
Hi Karl, I don't track too closely but would guess maybe we spent $1,000 + on gas. As you would imagine most of the fuel is burned getting there and back. Cruising in Desolation Sound was mostly shorter legs and/or slow cruising which doesn't burn too much fuel.

What engine do you have in your boat and roughly how much fuel did you use?

what speed gets the best fuel consumption on that boat?
@C2Sky1 Жыл бұрын
Strictly speaking your best fuel consumption (gph) on any boat would be at idle. Best fuel economy on most boats including this one is at slow displacement speeds. On plane you're sacrificing economy for speed. I would say the sweet spot for the 285 on plane is around 25 knots. You might get 2 nmpg at that speed assuming it's clean and trimmed and in smooth conditions. There are consumption charts available online.
