I started the game as a SUM 2 months ago or so, then I got to lvl 60 and wanted to try something new so I picked WAR. I just got to lvl 90 as a Warrior today and I can say that I regret nothing! Coming from a sprout on FFXIV that avoided tanking at all costs on other MMOs, Warrior helped me to get hooked on both the game and the role. This video is very well put together and sums up most of my thoughts on the job so far. Lastly, keep swinging your axes, fellow warriors!

I started out as archer/bard when i got the free trial but i found myself dying to simple encounters that were at my lvl, so i tried a bunch of other jobs and stuck with warrior. The self-healing made it so much easier for me to continue playing, and i even found myself enjoying being the tank in groups

I'm a diehard healer main and so far I'm loving my level 45 warrior. it's very satisfying to swing a big axe around and be immortal when you're wall 2 wall pulling dungeons, regardless of your healer's skill level

I started FF14 a year ago. I picked Marauder as my first job and when Marauder in itself wasn't THAT fun. I completely fell in love with the Warrior. Eventually, I tried all the other jobs and fount others that I really love, but as far as tanking goes, even if the DRK is really fun, I always come back to Warrior. So it did become my main.

In the high end of things: The invuln is still the best of all tanks, and imo is the #1 reason to bring it to high end content. Shorter CD enables strats that otherwise are not possible (especially apparent in dsr), or at the very least it let's u save CDs and kitchen sink the next TB (why they feel unkillable).

I have never tanked in FF14, but since finishing Shadow bringers as DPS I have been really curious about tanking. Problem is, I have awful Anxiety and get worried about looking like an idiot or making people angry.

I just started tanking too. Beat all of endwalker and didn't tank. Figured it was time and yeah I still get a little nervous but its fun and people are cool about it. No need to go wall to wall at first.

Arguably the best time to start tanking is right now. All tanks at the moment are extremely hard to kill so long as you have even a halfway competent healer. Obviously Warriors are arguably the strongest at the moment due to the insanity that is Bloodwhetting, but unless you're trying to complete the highest of the highest content you'll be fine.

Imma sprout and I’ve been tanking since level 1 - you got this, and people are much nicer in FF than other games and much more understanding to people trying new jobs - edit: lvl 62 sprout, played 3 of the 4 tanks, try them all and pick something that fits your style

Bloodwhetting is great for dungeons and ok for raids imo. It just scales so insanely well for a sub 1min cd. That conan intro is also pretty ballers. Sums up the job perfectly, basically the d2/d3 barbarian of FF14.

​@@Midgert89 They are not even 30s, Heart of Corundum and Bloodwhetting is 25s, Holy Sheltron 5s (but gauge cost makes it more like ~20s), TBN 15s but MP cost makes it way harder to use than other CDs and will be more limited.

DRK suffers the same slow phase post-burst, what does it have to use during that, 1-2-3 and a oGCD that is MP limited. Whereas WAR has 1-2-3/4 and a oGCD on a 30s timer. It's literally DRK has the worse downtime after the burst is spent.

Love WAR for the bloodwhetting insanity in dungeons. But somehow after trying DRK, WAR and PLD (GNB is next) I somehow liked PLD the most. Don't know why yet. Maybe cause it's less popular (I'm weird that way, don't want to play the popular choice). Maybe cause I forget my burst windows in DRK and WAR cause of boring in between fase 😅. Maybe cause burst is chiller in PLD (no burst, more like the DRG freight train but less restrictive). Maybe cause I like the ranged phase in PLD and the variation in rotation. Curious what your thoughts are on PLD Despi!

I really dont think the war is that super pvp god you say it to be, because if it gets focused, you can go down pretty Quick, specially if your ping messes up your bloodwhetting. I feel it shines more for its crownd control than for its damage as well, since the best way to use the war lb would with your party. And if somehow you get either transformed by whm or charmed by dancer or afraid by reaper or even get killed , since you cant guard, then that's it. It is a good class for pvp, i just dont think its as broken and powerful as lots of people say. The rest of your points i agree.

@@Isaac31415 War with defensive available is very tough, which is why its so good in PvP, on top of the aoe stun and huge aoe cleave dmg during it's LB, and the fact it blocks enemy using Guard (super OP).

I don't know if all the things about warrior being the fifth healer is true or very partial... Recently some warrior soloed the first current raid boss after studying it for 8 hours. A paladin saw this, just hoped in and soloed the first boss too... Then the second one too. I saw both videos, the healing potential of the warrior was way under the paladin's one...

Its because the war can heal themselves and someone without needing to sacrifice a gcd for that, plus, thrill of battle and equilibrium is a very powerful combo to do as ogcd. Pld has the advantage of higher potential for heals but at cost of gcd and the magic rotation gives a heal per hit basically so there's that. To be fair, even gunbreaker helpwith heals if the content allows it. I know this because i once managed to kill the 85 dg final boss when the healer died at around 80% of health and i healed the dps for time enough for them to kill the boss

Warrior is really self healing when fighting packs of mobs. Against a single ennemy (raid boss) it's clearly not that strong and this tier, they put a great number of DOT that clearly can't be heal by the WAR alone. Yes he has sustain. No, he isn't a healer in high-end content
