To think that Benjamin Bratt who voiced Eduardo/El Macho in this movie wounds up voicing another animated villain in Ernesto De La Cruz in Pixar’s _Coco_ 4 years later after this movie.

It’s worth noting that the animation and frame rate in this film and the later _Despicable Me/Minions_ films look more advanced and move much more smoothly like most of the CG Theatrical animated films than the first _Despicable Me_ film due to the second film’s budget being at $76 million compared to the first film’s $69 million. On top of that this film is currently the first and so-far only _Despicable Me_ film where the girls were not kidnapped by the film’s villain.

In general, I agree. The second one really had a lot in it, to make it entertaining. It also seems to have a nice layer of refinement, compared to the first one. However, the first one really has a LOT of heartfelt moments, when it comes to Gru and his future daughters. I'd say it's similar to Back to the Future, in that though I liked the other chapters, I think the first part is still essential, to make the rest work. (Although 3 is optional )
