Her acting as a child … and her first role….. simply amazing …. Flawless!….everyone in this film did amazing work! It is beyond any award you can give.

Every main cast member deserved an Oscar for the color purple. Phenomenal acting, she did that

I cry every time. I saw the film the weekend it was released. People dont realize now how rare it was to see an all black cast in a major film...I thought yours was the most brilliant perfomance of any actor in any movie that came out that year..color purple would not have worked without you as young Celie ...you anchored the film..you gave it a beating heart. And I am so grateful.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. The actors in this were beyond good they played roles that made you think it was real. Everyone in this movie did an amazing job. I am going home and watch it again tonight. That will be the 23rd time.

This movie is right there in my Top Five. I'm 59 and still cry like a baby all through it, and I'm not ashamed to say so. The entire movie is setting you up for the ending, and it hits you like a sledgehammer in your heart. Not a movie like it before or since. I still can't believe it received so many nominations yet obtained zero oscars...

Wow! She is so beautiful! And for that to have been her first time ever doing ANYTHING in Hollywood, and be able to move us to tears like that... wow!

Oh my God ...what an extraordinary movie!!! and that is right, that scene being taken down the stairs was hard to see, but very well done... I always remember, these lines: she say she writes, but she never writes, she say only death can keep me from her, maybe she dead. What a powerfull scene/movie!! ❤❤❤

On of the most amazing debut performance in all of Hollywood history. There is a pain, confusion and loneliness in voice, on her face and with her posture. As a young actress she had the burden of introducing Ceile to the audience and she knocked it out of the park.❤️

First off, I never knew that this was her very first role. What an amazing job. I was a 21 year old usher at a movie theater when this film came out, so between that and watching it on VHS and TV , I must have seen the film 100 times, but never took the time to read the additional credits. Shame on me, especially since those scenes with Celie and Nettie affected me so much.

21? Were you young and juicy? I would love to see pics of you in your old Usher outfit. He’s my favorite R&B singer.

Beautiful and talented sister. First time I saw the movie, I was really saddened by her lack of childhood and joy. I hated Danny and that man who played her daddy and just remember thinking to myself IF I EVER see them, I'm just gonna start swinging 😆 I didn't see it a 2nd time until years later. The scenes and lines became funny to me as it did others. I love to recite the lines 😊

Something is wrong with me. I've always acted like it was Whoopi whether young or old. I never wondered who the child actor was and she played a large part in the movie. Very good too... this answered a question I never asked and told me something I didn't know I needed to know but I did.
