Misha has talked about it, and said he really hated taking the role. It messed him up in the head, gave him nightmares, etc. He tried to get out of it but they wouldn't let him. He had to have therapy afterwards...it was a really dark time for him, and he asks if you respect him as an actor then not to watch it, or judge him by that movie.

Misha never knew that this was a real story but then he found out about it during an interview about the movie. Misha and the actress who played Karla told everyone not to watch it because of the violence in it. Misha talked about it at a spn convention and he said that he had a lot of nightmares while filming 'Karla' and if he knew that this based on a real story and it was this violent, he would have never film it. He also said that the director was an ass too! and if you watch Supernatural and you know how sweet and awesome Misha is, you wouldn't want to watch it because it shocks you so bad. I was shocked from the role that Misha had and I regret watching that movie. I can't imagine how hard it was for him to play that role. so an advise from me, DO NOT WATCH IT! (I talked to much! XD sorry!)
