I knew the man who owned and lived in the now abandoned property featured here. We lived a little further east from there. He was eccentric, but also very kind. He was a true mountain man. I used to see him around Williams Lake now and again, and he always had a big smile and some kind words for me.😅. In my mid teens he gave me a puppy from a litter his dog had. It's a little tough seeing his property now, absent of the geese and such he kept. It was a very lively place every time the school bus stopped there or when we'd drive by.

Ya can't help but love Dustin's videos 😅. He's either talking to a local or videoing something that takes a very steady hand or running from a dead bear or is being very culturally minded and respectful of the First Nation's right to privacy. I'd love to go on just one of his little trips to video something he's heard about locally, well it would definitely be an adventure for sure. Very well done again Dustin.

Hole in the wall! I spent many days fishing with my father in the now-closed campground on the other side of the river. At 13 years old, a friend and I, were dropped out there by our mothers. He had moved to Terrace that year and I was in Rupert. We had a complete weekend of freedom and camped on the Skeena side of the highway. Who would let their kids do that today? Yes, we got up to shenanigans. We were 13 years old after all. That story has to be shared in the company of others as it requires some acting. LOL. The memories are still so vivid in my mind. Thanks for bringing us along, as always, and welcome to my home. Looking forward to more videos as you make your way. Cheers!

So enjoying revisiting many places we haven't been in years. Kathy and I used to canoe and camp up the Exchamsiks a lot when we were first married. I cut a portage on the other side of the river to get us past the big creek that comes in at the corner before the rapids. Then we would cross back and carry the canoe around the rapids. It's really spectacular above the rapids and full of wildlife, including moose, mountain caribou and grizzlies.

I got to drive the Alaskan Highway in 1977 when it was still gravel. And since I had driven up, down and up, in 1994 I drove back down the Cassiar Highway in 1994 when it was gravel. Between my 1977 and 1994 and then driving the interior highways of Alaska in 2014. The changes were amazing. The amount of development and the closing of the old roadhouses really changed the character of the state.

This country is so beautiful, I was blessed to travel through northern BC and some of the roads and mountains you pass by are familiar to me. I recommend a trip up Hwy 37 to Iskut, a stay at the Red Goat Lodge will give you plenty of stories and maybe see a hummingbird. The glacier lakes in the area are so clear and deep and you can see the fish swimming on the bottom too far down to reach. There are a few wolves in the area so be careful and the food is so good. The people are strange but that is where you hear the best stories. Love this channel few get to see how green the land is and wonder why there are so few people there but I will advise you to bring your own drinking water just in case.
