"They are not all mine", meaning not all Vex worship the Darkness like the Sol Divisive. But what if we take that statement a step further and postulate that perhaps there's a sect of Vex that is the counterpart to the Sol Divisive? A sect of Vex who worship the Light? "They were made before Light and Darkness, but the rules are different now, and even this pattern must adapt." To see some Vex worship the Darkness is a precedent: it is possible for them to choose a "cosmic side". And there is no indication that the Darkness is the only side they can choose. I'm just speculating. It would be cool to visit a Light-worshiping Vex, one who provides more lore and history about the Vex and who gives us quests, bounties, and gear.

I took the "they're not all mine" as the Vex not being "creatures" of the darkness. Rather than straight Worship of the Darkness, those that worship the darkness are "outcasts" of the Vex Collective, right? I do like the idea of Light worshipping Vex, it can't rightly be simulated, so reverence of it wouldn't be too much of a stretch. Additionally if Saint-14 is truly dead, and the one in the forest isn't one of a myriad of outcomes/timelines, then what are they using his light for? Stripping him of his light is what killed him. Assuming of course his light is "physical" based on the description. Furthermore, Omar's light was stripped by the hive, and his soul went with it. Oh lord, I don't wanna think about a Vex construct with Saint-14's light and soul, fuelling it. I wonder if that'd be a force for good, or if his soul would have been twisted in some way.

Honestly that’s my favorite part about the Darkness. In every entry in which it speaks directly to someone, it always uses very casual and lax colloquialisms. For example: in Majestic Majestic it tells Oryx to “kick back and relax” before going into really deep and complex explanations of the Sword Logic. It’s a quite frankly brilliant bit of characterization.

So this makes sense. It establishes the role of the Vex in the destiny world. These lore pages are talking about how the darkness and light constantly restarted their gardens after one force always became dominant. So the rules have changed for this reality, the destiny reality, introducing "paracausal" forces aka space magic. So the Vex are from a previous universe without paracausal space magic. Without space magic the Vex always win. But now the Vex are struggling to understand space magic, it doesn't fit the pattern. Like some turbonerd Sheldon not understanding how people work. So that's the role of the Vex. If everyone played by the rules, Vex would win.

I’m gonna play pyramid’s advocate here and say that I don’t really think the darkness is lying. I think this because in this situation, it would only lie if it thought on some level that it was wrong. But what I get from the lore book is that the darkness thinks it’s 100% correct, that it fully understands how the universe works and that if you hear all that it has to say then you will agree with it. I also think it’s at the point where it doesn’t really need to lie. It seems like the darkness just wants to share its side of the story, and then let you decide whether or not you agree with it.

In all honesty, I agree with what Rob is saying on 'the best lies are based in truth,' but the truth can be spun in a way that makes one side seem more favorable. The darkness has displayed that it can trick and deceive like no other, and its denizens are hell bent on destroying what little remains of the human race. But as I take it, this doesn't mean we cannot learn from what it teaches. As Toland found out before his exile and his unsinging at the hands of the Hive Deathsingers, the darkness follows the sword logic. That those on the top are the strongest of all, and their strength is how they got their. So for the darkness to be offering guardians a shot at entering the sword logic is not beyond me. So take what it says with a grain of salt, but do not be blinded by the light. We can learn and become more with information from both sides.

I think that the winnower may have been cheating. The gardener expressed frustration with a "pest" that kept bringing the garden to the same final form. The winnower however believed that this was inevitable and beautiful. I wonder if the pest was the Vex. They are singularly focused on achieving a pattern, and the darkness said that some of them have "come home". Sol Devisive or not, they certainly align with the winnower's stated goals. Maybe it made them for the purpose of achieving the final pattern.

Now, imagine this. Sometime later, we get the opposite side to this coin of lore. We receive the traveler's take on all of this. Same content, but from a different point of view. Possibly using different analogies and metaphors, but trying to correct what the darkness said. If this were to happen, I'd be as cautious with the traveler as I am with the darkness. After all, do we truly know the ultimate goal of the light? The traveler could hold motives we do not know of. Or, at the very least, the traveler is trying to dismiss the darkness altogether, making us only listen to the light and deny anything the darkness has to offer. To add to that, let's suppose that much later on, something happens and we, for some reason, receive something along the lines of Ikora's musings on the light and dark. I choose Ikora because she is not only one of the brightest warlocks. She has had to have begun to question the light to some capacity because of the events from the Red War forwards. I think it would be interesting to see a lore book from Ikora's point of view that takes the information from both the light and dark and tries to piece together a true recount of all they have tried to tell us. But that's all just hopes for the future of the lore. We'll see what happens.

To be honest i don't think the darkness lies to us. Atleast, when you look at the Darkness as a person, yes, but as a concept, as an aspect, it tells us the only "truth" it knows, his truth. The Darkness truly and only can believe what he says, because as a concept, it must remain true. Compare it to something like Hope in our understanding. Hope can be false, can make us blind and ignorant. But hope is hope, it's our interpretation and thinking that changes our feelingu towards hope. But as a concept it is pure, nothing more, nothing less, void from human interpretation, hope means one thing. Such is the darkness also

If some of the Vex could see "reason" in worshiping the Darkness, then by that logic, there SHOULD be a sect of the Vex who likely worship the Light. I was surprised that the Vex were the former inevitable winners of the flower game, before the Traveler intervened and opened up opportunities for other forms of life to thrive. I assumed that the pattern that the gardener was complaining about was the sword logic, which dovetailed neatly into why the winnower objected to its nerf. But if it was the Vex, then, well, quite frankly they don't follow the sword logic at all, being cooperative colonies of microscopic creatures that, via their cooperation, can subdue any creature of any size. I think the black garden IS "the garden". The unveiling books speak of flowers, which the garden has plenty of, and more importantly it has the tree with silver wings: the massive stump that is present in the distance of the black garden, and where you kill the final boss of GoS. The book says that the tree was razed and reduced..... To a stump.

I can't see why the darkness would lie about the origin of the vex, the twist is its interpretation of what their nature and aims should be. It's nice to have a clearer idea of their origin.
