A couple things that would be equally helpful. Returning players. 1. Several previously found exotics (e.g. Sleeper Simulant, Gjallarhorn, et al) from Year 1, are now behind different campaigns and can't (simply) be re-purchased. Instead, you have to quest or purchase the newer campaign. 2. Year 1 gear without a 1600 starting level, is useless, save for non-Level Crucible or if you are feeling sentimental. That also means, you can't level if it up either. Just two things I learned the hard way, after coming back after years of not playing. Take care

Sleeper is f2p you just gotta go to the tower exotic quiosque and get it with the other year 1 exotics. Only Gally which was introduced in the 30th anniversary pack is locked behind a paywall

Something for new hunters Xur sells mostly only forsaken exotic gear so unless you buy forsaken you can't actually get most hunter armor from him if its exotic

i haven’t played destiny 2 ever since the game came out and i just bought all the dlcs but i was sad to hear that they removed forsaken and the regular campaign. in my opinion starting destiny 2 right now the intro to beginners isn’t good at all they just throw you into the game but when the main campaign was in the game it actually gave an intro so this video helped me a lot after not playing for 5 years

I wish I’d found this video sooner. I put a lot of time in to D1 and never played 2. My friends from D1 made a discord and asked if we’d all be interested in D2 for The Final Shape and I thought ‘why not?’. I installed and bought all DLC and it’s so overwhelming and confusing in terms of what to do. I’ve stuck with it for the past month and even tho it’s not new player friendly, I’m having a blast!

As a new player that is also free to play the hardest thing for me is getting high stat armour. Literally the only reliable source is iron banner but its a limited time event. I got beyond light free with ps plus and I know you can grind master empire hunts but theyre really hard and my friends stopped doing it with me after they got cloudstrike, and I hate playing with randos, so Im screwed.

1:00 in my opinion hunter is most often chosen because of there design but are the most boring to play which turns off new players. Recommend playing warlock or titan first. Unless you plan on mainly playing pvp the yea go with hunter

So I just wanted to add a comment here. I stumbled upon your video about the experience of what a New Light player goes through and having been playing for a number of yrs( Got a little over 3,681,000 kills in the game so I've been playing for a hot minute or so lol) and I agree with you on many of your points that Destiny needs to better explain things to new players. I've got friends that won't play Destiny because It's too confusing and frankly the storyline is a bit weak at times. Anyway I wanted to commend you on taking the time to put together a guide for new players and yes I subscribed. Keep up the good work.

I've made a habit of being late to the party - when it comes to gaming these days, waiting is practically my policy as being hyped for a typical Launch Day leads directly to the recycle bin of broken dreams. So I wait. Waited a bit too long with this one, and I think it's fair to say that the criticism often coloured my opinion - but even after all this time, I still intrigued me and became an itch that had to be scratched. I wanted to experience it all for myself. I always felt that so much effort and talent was poured into Destiny, even from snippets of footage over the years, there was a level of quality in the production that I found spellbinding - and I'm a sucker for expansive space operas with amazing music and a story that involves 🙍 space. At all. Cheers for the work putting this together - I'm usually daydreaming about more depth in gaming but it's very useful to have it laid out in context. An awesome help guide ... I have learnt a stack of how to play from you tube. I've just started Playing Crucible missions and it's hard to keep up with level 9 and 10 players who always seem to be in such a rush to get to the end. You also can't learn what to do as they race ahead and complete the tasks while you're trying not to die and get left behind. Also if you fall it takes 30 sec to Spawn and they're already a few areas ahead. By the time you auto join they've half killed the end boss and tasks are completed so you can never find out what to do or where to go. Why do the algorithms pair veteran 6 players with way more advanced players.

I played destiny 1, new to destiny 2. The thought of expansion prices and upkeep turned me off in the past. But, right now the newest expansion is almost out, so we have free access to the old ones, and the old ones to purchase all of them are like $10 bucks in a bundle, like 80% off. And if you have ps plus, lightfall is free.

I just try the weapons out, see if the perks activate during normal gameplay (you'll see it on the left of the screen).I just keep damage perks, expolsive payloads, chaining... that kind of thing.

The destiny 2 app is a great way to learn stuff. As far as what you need when you buy destiny, the witch dlc is a 100% a must have. And so Is the new light one. The others I'd get if you want what they offer but most of the dlc offers a pincale and powerful item and a raid with it. So the more dlc you have the more power upgrades you can get every week. It's a great game though compared to a year ago the changes are amazing. It's actually challenging now. And looks like a fun time. Where as a year ago it was no good. I'm having a great time with the new dlc though. 😊
