There's a thing I think you misunderstood: Guardians and the Hive are not classifiable as Psionics; they don't use the power of THEIR mind to do space magic: they call upon a higher power that has been granted to them but they dont really OWN. It's the same difference you could draw between a spell and a miracle: Psions have their power as a part of their being, and can use it as a result of their talent, while Guardians and Hive call upon the power of a godly being (respectively the Traveler and the Worms): strip a Guardian of his Gost or a Hive of his worm and their powers are gone; but you cannot "strip" a Psion of his powers, because they are integral to it's being. The Fallen are a totally differnt case: their teleportation "powers" are a result of extremely advanced tecnology, not psionic abilities or "divine" intervention

In case you couldn't get it converted properly, Phobos impact is equal to 5,446,687,858 13/25 tons of TNT in raw impact force, after some more maths, it figure a third of Phobos impacts as solid material, a third as high-alt breakdown material, and the final third as below-regolith water, now this final one presents problems, as it likely contains 80-90% CO (carbon monoxide). Now in pure tonnes of BDM (breakdown material) you're looking at ~1843161 (rounding up), so depending where that hits and how many fragments depends on the damage, the water dispersing in atmosphere is a more serious problem, but since i don't have a degree in chemistry ill need help with the lethality of that so ill get back to you in regards to that, finally the third of Phobos impacting as solid matter releases a third of that original 5.4 billion TNT equivalent tons in raw impact damage.

Just like to add that, about the water vapour (which is indeed a greenhouse gas) that would be released into the atmosphere, well, it's effect would depend on the atmosphere or ozone layer in place at that time. Since Mars has almost no water on it's surface in the events of the game (from what we've seen at the least) the ozone layer wouldn't be compensating for the megatons of vapour being released. Also meaning that the ozone would basically be very thin. So I'm not entirely sure on the effect it would have on the atmosphere, but it will more then likely destroy it. Fact check me if I'm wrong ;D

A bit of information about the Psions that seems to have been overlooked are these symbiotes they seem to have, mentioned in a Mars Patrol mission "Multiple Hosts?" where you need to remove their symbiotes for processing and analysis. This does make it seem they are granted these abilities as you speculated

Always wondered if Golden Age Humanity could have taken theCabal in a straight on fight. Warminds included, no Onthological weaponry. Cabal just show up, no vex, no fallen, no hive, no darkness. Mars is the battleground. We never get to see major assets like the Imperial land tank in action, its all just set pieces for gurella warfare as described in Ghost Fragment 4.

I didn't know this until recently, but Cassoid makes swords. On the exotic sword quest, Lord Shaxx states that the foundry had assisted in the fabrication of the blades. Cassoid could potentially bring more melee weapons into Rise of Iron.

The old bungie game Marathon had a similar master/slave theme going on. The Phor enclaved the Spht who possessed psionic abilities and were good at accessing alien tech. The plot involves you trying to free them so they can help the hero take back the human interstellar space craft. Btw, that spacecraft was the terra formed moon of Mars: Phobos.

Here is a dlc story idea: The Psions on Phobos thane control of the base( wipe out the cabal stationed there) and send the moon towards Mars to wipe out the cabal there. The cabal then contact the guardians for help. You would then fight along side the cabal army, to stop the Psions on Phobos from destroying all life on Mars. This would be a way to introduce a cabal raid and for bungie to provide more lore on the cabal( their kind of boring as the game stands now) along with also gaining lore on Psions of course.

Hey Byf. Love the Channel and the lore, but I think there are some mistakes regarding psychic powers. Guardian powers are powers based in elemental energy and light, and are nonpsychic powers. Thanatonautics could be considered psychic powers, and powers of the void concerning Warlocks (some of them, blink for example) can be considered psychic because of the nature of their application, however imbuing the Golden fun with power, or harnessing the power of the light in other means could more appropriately be placed in "Channeling". There is no doubt that the mind in the form of mantras, chants, focusing the mind, and channeling emotion are processes of accessing these powers, however I feel the only really "psychic", or psioniclly powered guardians are Warlocks.

Watch Destiny Guides vid about Freeborn Otzot. Look at that pic, then look back at the "5th race" concept art. I have a feeling the Psions may be secretly the most powerful race in Destiny, and i feel that we'll find out they ARE the darkness and potentially the CREATORS of the Traveller. That kind of extravagant machinary fits their MO perfectly, and that 5th race pic is 100% the same being as Freeborn Otzot, Psion Savant. Its a reach, but just check it out.

I like the idea of this and think it'd be awesome for Bungie to add it to the storyline, after all, they did hint it in the grimore. However, if it was up to me to add this to the story, I'd set it up as a defeat to the Vanguard. Send in the guardians to f@&k sh!t up like they usually do, defeat whomever is trying to drop Phobos onto Mars, but ultimately fail to stop the event from happening. Mars becomes a much bigger wasteland, but it could lead to more interesting gameplay in the end. We'd roam around basically a planet going through a sort of nuclear winter, and could have deeper missions within. Phobos dropping onto Mars could end up opening up a much greater aspect on the Vex occupation of Mars, and further expand upon the Black Garden or other things.

Phobos was also hit by an even large asteroid which nearly mashed it to pieces. Hence the rather large crater on phoboses side. So phobos has a lot of hollowed out spaces and cracks. It's surface has a thick coating of fine dust as well. When you take that into consideration. The cabal would have had to physically reinforce phobos structurally before even considering using it as a base of operations. And using it as a weapon would need further consideration. I means a celestral body that has been so severely damaged structurally. Just penetrating earth's thick atmosphere would have cause at least half to burn up. and most likely break apart. However that would probably be a far worst situation as the pieces that do make it through still could be big enough to cause global devastation. And that's still not taking into account that the cabal could have weaponized phobos in some way.

Destroying Phobos in transit to an impact with Earth probably wouldn't do much unless you smacked it with a similarly massive object going in the opposite direction. Getting hit with a Phobos worth of gravel travelling at the same speed would still pretty much kill the dinosaurs.

My theory is that they were enslaved when Cabal destroyed the psions' planet. Cabal just don't exterminate them because they need someone that could manipulate power of Light/Darkness (I just remember seeing Cabal with normal weapons, no space magic). Quick question, more because I'm curious than anything else. How'd you come to the conclusion that the Fallen employ Psionic abillities? The Teleportation abillity is unusual, but I'd always chalked that up to being technological in nature. A short-range transmat beam, like the one our Ghost uses to bring us to and from the jumpship. If there's Grimoire to back up this assertion, I'll believe it, I just find it a little dubious as I remember one of Variks' grimoire cards had him pondering why the "Great Machine" (Traveller) gifted Guardians with the abillity to wield its light, but not the Fallen? Ontop of this, we see the teleport abillity utilised by Servitors and High Servitors, which we know to be inorganic in nature. Not that that's ever stopped inorganics, like say the Exo, but the Exo do have a spark of humanity and sentience about them which the Servitors seem all too lacking in. Sorry if this is just knit-picking. I'd always assumed the Fallen teleporter was simply techological, that the basis for its existence was that it was some kind of jury-rigged transmat or relocation teleport matrix. My own theory was that it's a component derived from the broken down or destroyed Servitors. Fallen do value their Servitors to the point of fanaticism, but they are scavengers at the end of the day. "waste not, want not" and such. I could see them gutting a dead Servitor for its teleportation device. Which would explain the scarcety of the abillity, why it's only reserved for Captains, Archons and Kells. You wouldn't waste a valuable piece of tech on your average Vandal or Dreg after all. Ontop of this, if the Machinist boss in Rise of Iron is anything to go by, we see his teleportation animation is distinctly "SIVA"-ified, and we know for a fact that the SIVA plague is techno-organic in nature. So the change in technology leading to a change in teleport animation leads me to assume the Fallen teleport IS just technology, not some kind of Psionic or light/dark power.

So I was just going through my weapons when I read the info that came with the Baron's Ambition Heavy Machine Gun. It quotes "To crack open that depraved Earth-Servitor. This has nothing related to this video about Psion's and the Cabal but more related to the story of Destiny. What I've been noticing is that there are many things that link to the idea that your guardians are being kept in the dark about the truth of The Traveller and The Speaker. Like seriously, we killed the son of a Hive God because a spooky bitch with 3 eyes who lived on the moon told us to. It got me thinking (btw this is just a 1 in a million theory that is actually true that came to my head) that it's Bungie's plan to have Destiny's story be so kept in the dark. Like think of it as the Guardians as soldiers, which they already are, and The Speaker and The Vanguard being the General's and the Commanders. You would keep all the secret stuff and bad motives from them as they think they're doing the right thing (I'm starting to sound like a conspiracy theorist). Maybe that's the reason why Toland and Osiris were exiled because they knew something they shouldn't have. I know I've put this awfully and hopefully you all know what I mean.

If the psi on could get Phobos to ORBIT just above the atmosphere so there no drag, then Phobos would be moving so fast we would see it move at a rate 2x the time it takes the ISS. The lower you go the faster. Especially with a planet with gravity similar to earth.
