What do you mean "strengthen their defenses"? Every communist society has self-imploded. Communist societies fought wars to BECOME communist societies, and then miserably failed in the aftermath. I don't care about "on their way to be" or "almost could have been". That's just speculation. All communists can do is argue strictly in theory, because all real world examples have been shit compared to capitalist counter parts. And then communists will cry "it wasn't real communism" and turn around and point fingers at western nations and their corruption, as if they are the whole and pure examples of capitalism. Communists argue in theory only in defense, and then when it suits them criticize the untheoretical examples of states of "capitalism", as if these states are the 100% embodiment of the theory of capitalism. It's disingenuous at best. Pathetic mental gymnastics is more accurate of a statement.
@ashiok3 жыл бұрын
@@sammygreco *1 Million Cuban citizens fleeing due to an embargo (which is the doing of the states, by the way) + members of the previous upper class who are obviously going to dislike communism. Pretty much nobody advocating for communism ever claims that the bourgeoisie and their intelligentsia + state-military apparatus associates are going to enjoy living under communism--of course they will flee/revolt. But these 'Capitalist counterparts' being fled to are the furthest thing from heaven imaginable--your broader point about the theoretical vs. the practical is incoherent in the sense that we too are critiquing the real-world examples of capitalism, by the same grounds (i.e. judging the real world) that you are critiquing communism (judging real examples of its implementation). If you want to make the claim that these capitalistic instances, with all of their inherent faults, do not count, and that we instead ought to examine capitalism's *theoretical* justifications extraneously scrutinized apart from their failed real contexts, then you are committing the same 'fallacy' you accuse communists of committing. "And then communists will cry "it wasn't real communism" and turn around and point fingers at western nations and their corruption, as if they are the whole and pure examples of capitalism." ... so, your implication here results in the same theoretical posturing that you fundamentally take issue with, to justify an economic system. This is patently hypocritical. So, which is it? I won't argue for the merits of communism from a theoretical standpoint; rather, I will affirm that the prior historical instances of it were predominantly positive. Yes, this is including and doubling-down on death counts (which are not at all exclusive or even exceptional). The 'theoretical' aspect to this real-world set of citations isn't there--I am not arguing in theory here. I'm only offering appraisal from a real-world standpoint. The difference is that I don't see the aspects of communism that you consider to be failures, as failures. There is nothing objective about your value judgment, and should you protest this point, then you necessarily commit the act of engaging in 'theory' (which you so deeply detest doing). Where you might make the mistake of conflating the ideological lens that biases me, however, is in labeling the ideology by which I derive ethical suppositions to be coterminous with the 'theoretical', but this would be a category error, since ideological frameworks understood in approval of readily existing states of affairs is something conceptually different than the theoretical pontification over what does not, and has not, ever existed. Furthermore, if we extrapolate your statement that all communists can do is argue in theory due to our examples being 'shit', we're immediately confronted with a loaded value judgment, which bears no relation to anything neutrally factual, and is instead your imposed interpretation of the facts as they relate to communism's conditions. For example, you or I can both say something like 'X ideology resulted in Y deaths', and that would be factual, but the value judgment made in relation to that thing cannot be derived from the fact of the matter. We cannot, on the sole basis of that fact, claim with equivalent factuality that the idea itself, relating to that fact's context, is 'good' or 'bad'. This is philosophically classical and standard--that you cannot derive an ought from an is (and if this might be considered too 'theoretical', know that this philosophical principle of logic is in no way intrinsic to communism or communist actors--it is a basic principle of logic that operates independently of any political association--it so happens to apply here because you have implicitly suggested the conditions of something to be negative as if they speak for themselves--i.e. that they are an ought from an is), is something long-established. Were I a capitalist, I could still point this out with equal significance, because your own error here is, again, just fundamentally one of logic, irrespective of my actorship. And lastly, your entire premise boils down to 'might makes right', in relation to Destiny's core point. Funny, given that here we encounter an overlap with a certain political system starting with the letter 'F', as the subject matter of the contested video concerns. I think what is disingenuous is that you obviously have no mind towards ever ceding your neoliberal worldview, and so choosing to engage in a dialogue in which all the opposing side can anticipate from you is vehemence and vitriol is, much to the surprise of noone, going to be a worthless endeavour.

I agree that socialism is a good economic system if one defines socialism as public goods and worker cooperatives. I don't understand whats with the hate against liberals from communists. I don't think every capitalist is a liberal. Many private business owners are conservatives who oppose liberalism. If anything, many communists including Karl Marx himself were liberals at some point and they agree that liberalism is a necessary prerequisite for communism.

As part of the Track II initiative, the CIA used false flag operatives to approach Chilean military officers, to encourage them to carry out a coup. >In the Chilean coup of 1973, Augusto Pinochet rose to power, overthrowing the democratically elected president Salvador Allende. A subsequent September 2000 report from the CIA, using declassified documents related to the military coup, found that the CIA "probably appeared to condone" the 1973 coup, but that there was "no evidence" that the US actually participated in it. >Transcripts of a phone conversation between Kissinger and Nixon reveal that they didn't have a hand in the final coup. They do take credit for creating the conditions that led to the coup. Kissinger says that "they created the conditions as great as possible." Nixon and Kissinger also discussed how they would play this event with the media and lamented the fact that, if this were the era of Eisenhower, then they would be seen as heroes. >The U.S. provided material support to the military regime after the coup, although criticizing it in public. A document released by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in 2000, titled "CIA Activities in Chile", revealed that the CIA actively supported the military junta after the overthrow of Allende and that it made many of Pinochet's officers into paid contacts of the CIA or U.S. military, even though some were known to be involved in human rights abuses. tldr: there is no evidence that the CIA perpetrated the 1973 coup but the CIA supported coups against allende and helped create conditions for a successful coup.

Nonetheless, the U.S. Administration's long-standing hostility to Allende and its past encouragement of a military coup against him were well known among Chilean coup plotters who eventually took activities of their own to oust him."
