I applied sedgehammer to my lawn, which is a mix of Bermuda and St. A. It took a few weeks to fully kill the nutsedge and it worked great.

It ... worked! I used the Sedgehammer and Surffactant combination is it basically got rid of 100% of the areas that I sprayed within just a few days. Since I have basically the entire bottle left, I am tempted to go around and apply this to all my neighbors ... almost every lawn in the neighborhood has the weed growing.

Good video. Glad you put the results in the video. Makes a much better presentation with before and after photos! Keep up the good work. P.S. SedgeHammer definitely works. But if you're cheap like me and you have some time, you can do it all natural with a little effort. I use a simple narrow jet blast of water to blast the dirt away and get down to the nut and roots. Just grab the stem with your fingers and blast the water down the stem and you can slide your fingers down and eventually find the nut and roots. Yes, it's a little messy, but you don't need a powerful blast, just enough to blast away the dirt and slide your fingers down the hole. The dirt will flow right back in for the most part. But it's free and very satisfying, and maybe borderline fun to grab the nuts and roots and pluck them out whole.

You didn't mention that Sedgehammer is expensive. Maybe not too bad if all you have are a few isolated areas, or a small lawn, but we use it in our landscaping business for large lawns where it has started taking over everywhere. and to spray a 1 acre or larger lawn runs into some real money. That little measuring cup has a secondary purpose: to keep you from wasting more than you have to.

I have found that if you have ANY WEED in an area that you can spray liberally as this man did at his fence in the back yard, where you can spray and not worry about killing any grass,plants or anything else growing , go to a hardware store( I go to Tractor Supply) and get a gallon of 30% vinegar(about $20) put it in a sprayer of your choice( I use a 16 or 32 oz sprayer) put enough of the 30% vinegar in your sprayer close tightly and go spray whatever it is you’re wanting to kill it WILL KILL IT by the time you’re up in the morning and go check on it …the weeds will be snow white and dead! I stopped buying expensive chemicals…but, make no mistake,you CANNOT SPRAY the 30% vinegar and it touch ANYTHING ELSE that is growing as it too will die!!! DO NOT spray this 30% vinegar as this gentleman did with the sledgehammer as ALL OF YOUR GRASS that the vinegar hits will KILL IT! Best wishes on killing your weeds. Tell me how to kill morning glory. It is such a pain and grows 4 to 7 inches per day. I spend my summer saturday mornings pulling it. I've tried steaming the roots, weed killer, etc... it kills the surface weed, but doesn't pen the root system.
@treasuredLawn3 ай бұрын
I wish I could unfortunately I just don’t know how to safely attack it once it’s in your lawn I know pulling it just causes it to spread more but man that’s a tough one.

Looks you have to buy a sprayer and all those chemicals plus Sedgehammer. That would be a lot of stuff for just doing your own lawn one time.

@@treasuredLawn yes sir. The Bermuda is the main part of my lawn, but because of where the community was built on farm land, this Fescue is a pain in the butt. I would like to get rid of it and let my Bermuda shine all by itself.
@treasuredLawn6 ай бұрын
@@momorgan9793 I assume it’s like a clumping fescue right? I think a solution that could work is you could spot kill the fescue with glyphosate once killed you could use a pro plugger and take me some plugs of Bermuda and put it in the killed off fescue areas and then let it spread as it naturally would. This won’t be a quick fix but I think this could help and eventually get you the 100% Bermuda look. I’m a cool season guy so my knowledge of warm seasons isn’t as high but I know Bermuda can spread like crazy so I feel like that would work.

@@momorgan9793 I feel like that’s the best option without a complete tear out. Or you could kill those areas and resod them but you already have sod at your disposal the sod option would just be faster at filling in and recovering

I used the single application package of sledgehammer on the nut grass in my flowerbeds two weeks ago and they don’t look much different than they did then. I’m going to apply more today and see if that will kill it. I am having a terrible time with the nut grass. I didn’t realize that’s what it was and kept trying to dig it up so I’m sure I made it worse to begin with. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Can this be used on sod that is a month old?
@treasuredLawn12 күн бұрын
I would refrain and give that sod at least a 6months to preferably a year before using it on there. I tend to be more cautious though
