What video is the parry strike in?
@erikthegreek1049 Жыл бұрын
@@Blandified for some reason i cannot find it. Its not smth special, it just works really well in a southpaw position. Your lead hands are aligned, so every time i would get jabbed, i would parry and strike in one motion which is what mike explained in that video. You need to connect your parry motion and jab motion so it becomes one. It has counters and if you overuse it they can try to bait you with fakes and punish you, but its the number 1 thing i do in sparring.

Another great way to keep south paws from being too quick to counter with that left on the inside is toe kicks to the mid section. Or if you're feeling especially sadistic, to the outer thigh of their rear leg. South paw rear legs are generally much less conditioned than even an orthodox rear leg is to leg kicks.
@M.C...2 жыл бұрын
What do you think about throwing a lead leg side kick to the body from that inside position (aside from "side kicks don't work")?
@aegisprotection49692 жыл бұрын
Goof video! All the techniques are solid. I loved the comment about the inside crescent kick. I have used one for years and have yet to see someone go: Oh, it's only a crescent kick. And I have never said that about a kick coming at my head. I have said meh about a few punches (and also been wrong about them. Ouchie) but not a kick coming at my face. Things to consider, probably to be covered in future videos are that Southpaws are more likely to be somewhat ambidextrous because life forces us to be that way. And are more likely to be counter punchers. That could just be me. And I am a sample size of 1. I was mostly thinking: Lead hook to head and shovel hook to body. Again, sample size of 1. I am not a power hitter. I am a grinder.

Another option instead of throwing the front wheel kick or roundhouse whichever you prefer to call it, is to simply throw a side kick. With the southpaws foot outside your front foot, the front wheel kick is kind of jammed since it has limited to space to execute it. A side kick however, travelers straight and with a deeps enough chamber can be executed from this position and hits with greater authority than a front wheel kick.

Pssssst....Southpaw insider secret from a south paw- destroy a South paw from the inside by half-switching/pendulum kicking the inside of their rear leg. You risk running into that right hand but if you commit and walk through, can spin for a sweep, or force them to move into a spinning heel/backfist or all kinds of weird close range nonsense that might make them think twice about trying to achieve that position. Works both ways
@bolieve6032 жыл бұрын
Also with your feet to the inside you can sway left and throw the lead body hook to his liver. Southpaws put their livers right there for you to punch them. Also you can step under his straight left and throw the lead roundhouse to the liver

Before the video starts, I’m not a professional but I assume pivoting towards the backhand off of the lead foot and stepping back resets the engagement and if you don’t overuse it it’ll create a decent opening because it’ll kind of leave your opponent in an orthodox stance

Learning how to fight both right handed and left handed and that took me a long time. Learning in boxing how to throw and offensive jab and a defensive jab. Learning my foot work. The list goes on and on and on. The reason is that it does not matter if you are a righty or a lefty. As long as you are trained to understand the situation you are in... You will be fine. What you have shown was shown by the old timers in boxing. Something that is not well taught anymore. So thanks for showing people on this.

When a southpaw steps right to get lead foot advantage, it’s best to launch a left hand AS he is moving, BEFORE his foot hits the ground. Not step then throw.
