Hah. You are too good, made it look easy. Your partner is good too. it balances out. The point is that you (the player) must have a somewhat good backhand to take full advantage of this shot. The tip about being balance and leaning forward to hit this shot is very important. When I was off balance or moving backward, my down-the-line is either short or floating out. Hitting loopy ball is easy, placing it deep and accurately require some technique. Thanks. subscribed.

Great video. Can you please also cover how to actually redirect the ball? Should we be trying to make contact earlier or later than the typical cross-court? I personally find it really hard to redirect the angle - especially when the ball jams me up right in the middle of my body
@elchanclascocina2 жыл бұрын
Same happens to me, but more in incoming inside out balls where I want to go down the line (on the ad side, me being a righty). What seems to be the key is ball spacing, not allowing to be jammed. For the balls as in the video, it works for me hitting a little later but pocketing the ball, hitting it in the outter part, lets say at 5 o clock. It's been 4 momths since the comment so probably you've already figured it out ✌️

Great lesson. I think this would be very effective against a player with a single handed backhand. Since I have a double hander, I am always looking for ways to switch up forehand crosscourt rallies into high backhand rallies. A high forehand down the line would allow me to take the initiative.

For me it is much easier to create high jumping loopy shots and much more difficult to flatten the trajectory of the ball. Why is that? Is that related to some basic deficiencies in technique?

Just a question though, are you leaving yourself vulnerable to the wide back hand shot? You were almost at the sideline when you hit that down the line shot. Or maybe it is smart to slow that ball down so you have time to get back in position left of center? I'm just thinking of basic defensive strategy, that would say don't change direction unless opponent's ball lands left of your body. That of course gives you less court to cover if you do it that way. Also, I'm not a high level player like you, can't hit nearly that hard, and I rely on a heavy spin forehand, not the backhand. Is this shot good then only if you're a high level player and favor the backhand?
@KaruesellHQ2 жыл бұрын
All of that will be covered on part 2
@toddpreisler89632 жыл бұрын
What about against a lefty, high ball crosscourt to their BH? Then cover the forehand side?
@KaruesellHQ2 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Ideally that's the play but lefties play righties all the time so they are typically able to get out of that patter by going line. Still a good shot tho, just depends on the situation. High heavy to the backhand is always a good play
@toddpreisler89632 жыл бұрын
@@KaruesellHQ I play mostly a left hander and he hits a OHBH, so I usually always hit high balls to his BH...but down the line would be even better

@Fernwald842 жыл бұрын
Hey Karue, it would be nice to do a segment when one of the players is a lefty, so the required shot would be a high angled backhand to the righty's backhand. Since, for most players, the backhand has less top than the forehand, some words of wisdom about this situation would be great. Thanks.
@martinrosemary56542 жыл бұрын
What about for us lefties? Does this works the same ? Going to the righties forehand?
@KaruesellHQ2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the situation but this is a tactic for righties. Lefties live and die with heavy cross courts to the backhand, it is the simplest tactic in tennis

great video! As someone that enjoys many of your videos I wanted to point out something that might rub some people (including myself) the wrong way sometimes. I notice you tend to use the phrase "amateur" or "you amateurs" when describing rec players or club players. Which I take you mean as "non professional" players. Which is a totally appropriate use of the word. However, as you know, amateur can have a negative connotation, eg it may sound like "here is what you noobs are doing wrong." I know you don't mean it like that but that is the gut reaction that I hear when you say that. Nick from intuitive tennis for example uses "recreational players." Again, great channel, great content, do with this comment what you will. I have just thought this enough times when watching your videos I felt like I wanted to point it out
@KaruesellHQ2 жыл бұрын
Hahah makes sense! But I think since the word “amateurs” hits harder (I never say it in a negative connotation) it is easier to remember when you do end up those amateur mistakes. I still make those as well so I like to use that emotion to help me level up. I get your point tho

Boa Karue.
