What I find peculiar about the stomping is that as it begins to speed up, it no longer seems like the kind of sound human feet hitting the stands would make, but more of a locomotive engine revving up. Almost as if to say: "There _is_ a light at the end of the tunnel...and it is another train coming towards us. And there are no brakes on it."

In the movie, the stomps in this scene are faster, and throughout the movie the stomps have been used to show Oppenheimers conlfiction, impending doom and simply chaos, all of these suit the final scene. It also shows the escalation of Nuclear Arms race. From Minuteman 1s to hundreds being launched to hundreds impacts and then to a nuclear Holocaust.
