Fun fact: the Shield spells in Oblivion give you armor (and elemental resistance in case you're using Fire/Frost/Shock Shield) corresponding to the spell's power percentage. Just like any other spell, everything the Shield spells do maxes out at 100. Which means that, if you enchant any 4 pieces of clothing or Jewelry with "Shield 25%" and wear them, you'll be getting 100 armor without sacrificing Spell Effectiveness, making a bunch of prisoner's clothing better than most armor sets in the entire game. Shield is capped at 85%, while reflect damage isn't. You shoul stick to the latter and if you are also an atronach you can get 100% reflect and 100% absorption simultaneously, becoming immune to anything other than your own reflected spell(beware the liches).

I remember the first time I played Oblivion as a kid, the difficulty was already turned all the way up for some reason and the rat kept killing me and I ended up quitting thinking the game was too hard. Came back a couple years later and realized what happened, now I have thousands of hours in it. But rarely put the difficulty slider over halfway, bullet sponges are no fun!

Got my ass kicked by mudcrabs when i first rented the game playing on an old school tv that was extremely hard to see anything from. Had to hold a torch out to see 5 ft in front of me only to see a giant crab swiftly whoop my ass. Had to keep running into imperial soldiers on horses so they got off to kill the mudcrabs for me.. Decided to rent the game again and it was the best decision ever, my grandma bought it for me eventually and I sunk that entire summer break into it

@@fulvio3211 warriors have a tough time, but Stealth builds can excel. Poison damage isn't affected by difficulty modifiers, so it does a lot of damage and is the primary way to deal damage at the beginning of the way on max difficulty. That and summons.

I can tell you why your class image was an archer: custom class images poach the image of the last class you had selected. It doesnt matter since thats the only time you'll ever see it, but its a fun little tidbit, I think

To everyone who doesn't want to exploit. Best early game money goes as follows: Break into Fort Farragut through the tree entrance. Pick the very hard lock and grab the 10 poisoned apples. Leave fort Farragut and wait 3 days. Go back and grab 10 more. Go to a member of the mages guild get a charm spell, and then charm a vendor. These apples sell for 152 gold per with max disposition. I usually collect about 150 which nets around 25k gold to start. You can now run around buying everything you need.

Played through the max difficulty too, but picked the atronach birthsign for the "infinite magicka" exploit utilizing magicka absorption and telekinesis. It's funny when you combine demoralize and fortify athletics 100pts.

My brothers and I used to play this game to death and found some really funny tech. There are weightless hoods, you can enchant them with damage self and reverse pickpocket onto npcs. Leave and come back and they will equip it if wearing no head armour. So funny when you do it to invincible npcs and you are walking around the imperial city and see that unconscious notification in the top right. If ever power leveling get drain skill and target self. You can train to 100 and for free with any trainer, they don't have to be masters. Plus it will cause you to level up significantly faster, like get to blade 100 in 10mins fast. Other stuff: 100% chameleon from clothing enchantment, the gray fox cowl accrues all your bounty while wearing, infinite paralysis spells with spell reflection loops and just the broken mechanics of restoration spells.

Blink spell (4-6 sec invisibility) or custom invisibility spell (100 illusion skill to make it very cheap and you can spam short 4-8 sec invisibility spell), and you can do "on touch" distance effect to make kills with stacking spells p.s. i am on vacation, also playing oblivion now, really enjoy this game. Oh god seeing the stealing in the beginning actually makes me want to play again lol also I'm sure it's brought up in the comments or the video but one exploit that's not a glitch just bad design is that you can get 100% chameleon through armor enchantments.. and unlike invisibility, 100% chameleon makes you DISAPPEAR.. it breaks the game completely, no enemy knows what to do about basically getting attacked by nothing, so I'd assume it would make this significantly easier for all the parts of the game where you don't get your inventory taken away, you just have to get enchantment access at the mage's guild (again unlike duping it's not a glitch, legitimately it exists because no one thought it through that maybe you shouldn't be able to enchant every piece of armor and jewelry with like 15% chameleon each)

In the beginning of the game, right after you seperate from the emperor and the wall breaks, you can kill the Goblins, but the rat that comes from the hallway into the room is bugged, you can sneak around it and it won't attack you so easy level of sneak, then I'd just set difficult to max, block it while healing and have my sneak and block at like 60 by the time I left. Only downside is your taking +5 single stat on level up
