Destructive bend, tensile pull and nick break testing

See what it looks like to be apart of a destructive bend test, tensile pull, and nick break on a 6” 6G pipe.
Results:
The bend test showed complete passing (acceptable)
The tensile pull was equal to the tensile strength of the pipe material (acceptable)
Nick break results show that there was a slag inclusion that was an 1/8” wide but deeper than a 1/32” so it was rejectable (failed)
Again, all the tests performed here were purely for demonstration for the students, no weld qualifications were being attempted. For code standards, there are different procedures. Contact our CWI’s for particular questions.
