Really close.. 😉 A quick search for "usb-c cc resistor values" shows it's 5.1kΩ. Time to heat up the soldering iron and botch in a THT resistor to GND. 😁

See - I know that there was a "5" in the value :) Not sure if a TH Resistor can be fitted there; If I was really desperate, I'd probably try some magnet wire and SMT resistors. But Chris - you should know this by now: I'm lazy and will probably wait for a V2 ;)

yep had the same issue, is also available with other usb boards, the main reason is the usb c does not negociate to work on 5v

My old brain remembers only tiny bits of the usb-c spec: Shouldn't there be resistors to enable host/device detection? (and yes, I stopped at 3:44 ;) )

Hi @MacWake - yeah, you're absolutely right. Obviously they forgot those on the PCB; hoping that V2 will fix this.

This one only work if you use usb-c cable with one end is usb-a

Yep resistors to give good old 5v at about an amp! great video and I just subbed, I came straight from LER !.....cheers.

Hey Andy - yeah, I saw your name in LER's Comment section a few times - thanks for the sub!

I paused the video. On a first glance, it looks to me like only one of the D+/D- lines is connected. CH340 is a USB2 chip and AFAIK, D1+, and D2+ should be connected, the same as D1- and D2- if using a USB3 connector with USB2 UART.

lol, yea, CC should be pulled down, hahah. This is a great video that explains proper USB3 connector to USB2 chip design. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpOzfpmlgM5roc0

@@AlenHR you should have watched first to the end :) The host falls back to USB2 for a Ch340 chip. the problem is, that with the missing 5k1 resistors, the host doesn't know that there's a device waiting for - say - power. Let's hope that the guys in china give us a working version of these boards anytime soon.

He, he, sure It's a USB 2.0. device - never planned for USB 3.x ... but no problem, the Chinese already have a solution: a USB-C 2.0 Cable!😈

Hi ArduFreak - that would be a classic chinese move :) I'd guess the CH340 will work on a USB 3.x line (didn't test it) since the protocol is pretty robust and will probably fall back to USB 2... man, now I'm temped to get a resistor in there and thest this out!
