Hi Frank, So nice of you to stop by! Patience is certainly an asset to any Worm Farmer 🪱...no matter how small. I'm doing this for my own garden so I keep it all small. I've got 5 other Worm bins out on my back porch, year-round. I do add ice cubes some days during our summer. Take care ❤️Peggy❤️

Excellent Peggy. That was a longer video but we'll worth the watch :) I see you run your bin more moist than we do, but your results are fabulous!! Those castings are as pure as you could get !! As you said it's a little more work but they are fantastic!! Stay Awesome Peggy!! Cheers J&C 🪱🌱🪱

Neat Peggy I’ve never heard of the can o worms before. Tower looks great. I just got a tower hopefully I can have it all together for the new year. That is why I was thinking about counting some worms for it. If you have had this since 2009 it was definitely well worth the money.

At the time, I paid $235 for the Can-O-Worms, 2lb. Red Wigglers, a block of Coco coir and a 1lb. bag of rock dust that was their grit. I thought I could save the world, or just my little patch.👩🌾👍

Good strategy to mix in some dry material to get those fat worms out of those clumps! Impossible to do a light migration or even tempt them out with food when they’re happy hanging out in a worm clump! The other thing you could do is work in some of your lovely, powdered dry leaves, moringa, or egg carton. Come out worms, come out, come out wherever you are! ~ Sandra

Funny, I've been awake during the night and thinking about adding leaves and pulverized leaves to the bottom well to see if I could coax them out of their cozy hiding places. I'm going to finish up today so I can button up that corner of the kitchen during Christmas 🎄 Thanks for always having sound advice!

I will use it out in the entire garden. I like to add a 💩 scoop to a sprinkling can with rain water, stir vigorously, and water as far as will go. Thanks so much for watching. I know it was long, but I was trying to show in detail.

I put weed mat on the bottom of the tray above the well, this allows moisture to drain without worms and castings falling thru.

That is a nice multilayer bin system. You can have a big population in a bin that size. Are you up to 20 lbs of castings so far this fall?
@peggyhelblingsgardenwhatyo79202 жыл бұрын
I did get 7lb from the tiny twin shoeboxes, more than that from the 3 gallon and 10lb so far. There is quite a bit still in the well. I really need to get out and start adding it to the Garden.

Hello Peggy. I just bought 2 can-o-worm systems to start my worm farming. I found this video fascinating, the worm castings are so wet ( quite different from othrr videos that have single worm bins ). Im wondering if your still using this system, do you recommend it and are there any updates? Thank you!
@peggyhelblingsgardenwhatyo79206 ай бұрын
Hi Patrick, Yes, I had my Can-O-Worms since July of 2009. I guess my casting look wet when I get down to the 2 bottom layers. I was told when I bought it to sprinkle water over the top level on a weekly basis and to use the Leachate to water my plants. In the past 15 years the rules on What's Best have changed. People add less water and Leachate is considered less desirable than Worm Tea that we brew with an Aerator. I need to clean out my Can-O-Worms soon and will do an update version. Welcome to the world of Worms 🪱 Where are you from and what got you into Vermiculture? ❤️Peggy❤️

@@peggyhelblingsgardenwhatyo7920 Thanks very much for your reply Peggy. I'm in Auckland, New Zealand. Not sure what got me into the idea of Vermiculture, may have been a U tube video but I'm also recently retired so no work schedule. I thought I would get some garden worms, and I did, kept them for a week ( kept thinking I will probably have them die on me ) and then let them back in the garden with an Avocado to munch on. I think I heard them yell out, " Were free " Then I found out about Red wigglers, so I bought a worm farm with worms ... But they were Indian blues! Been watching and learning from utube ever since but all the can o worm ones were just on setting up the worm farm, while yours was active. I've only had the worm farms two weeks now and am really looking forward to seeing Cocoons ;-) soon.

That's so exciting, Patrick. Newly retired and a new hobby. When I got into Worms it was an oddity people looked at me like I was nuts. If you want any channels to watch, may I suggest Nana's Worms and Garden. Sandra is a PhD in Biology and has a 7 year old granddaughter. She started her channel to explain Worms 🪱 simply. I love her presentation without dumbing it down. There are several others I follow. Let me know if you need any help. I'm retired also so my time is mine 👍
