By far the best review I have found using action cams for action, thank you! I liked the A3 colors better and I liked the A3 wide view 30FPS. Stab was great on both. When the action is fast it's pretty hard to find fault with either one. I'll go with the Osmo and if they come out with a firmware that improves things then so much the better but I'm satisfied as is for what I plan to use it for, motocross videos. Ease of use, battery life, quick mounting options and also the ability to use usbc mics (as I plan to put one inside my helmet) are important factors for me. I only wish the A3 had GPS features like my Garmin Virb XE.

Thanks for the kind words, appreciate it! 🙏 Ultrawide FOV looks dope on an MX bike I imagine! I tried out those GPS features, but they're so cumbersome to put into a video with that GoPro cloud software. Not a fan, personally. Yeah, that was one of the reasons I made this. Most reviewers treat these action cams like DSLRs or vlogging gear. Rolling around on smooth pavement at the most. Which I always found useless for what a good number of us are going to use them: difficult, changing lighting, fast direction changes and bumpy rides.

I really wanted to like my Action 3 that I received yesterday. Unfortunately, my new Samsung XCover Pro phone is not compatible, and I was unable to install the app to unlock and update the A3. DJI tech said, “Too bad. There’s nothing we can do about.” Then, I checked the GoPro site, where someone had a similar problem, though with a different phone. The GP techs offered a workaround: download the update from a GP site, onto a SD card, using a desktop computer. Insert the card into the GP and run the update. DJI needs to keep up, at least in this area. I’m really upset, since I had no ideal about such phone/camera incompatibility. Thanks for an EXCELLENT comparison, including the thrilling bike rides. My butt was sore, just watching.

Jeez what a horror story! Not sure what the reasoning is of making the app mandatory to use the camera at all. Had to do a similar (not so elaborate) bodge when the DJI Mimo app wouldn't update on iOS. So I snatched an Android to do it. Thanks man, you're welcome!

Thats what i noticed on osmo action 3 when it sees a little bit of light/sky it will underexpose everything. Its very hard to control the exposure when in the shadow or shade area and the background has strong light. What i don’t like is the Image quality is a little bit soft. No exposure lock.

Thanks for the great review. I haven't found a better one on KZbin and it shows exactly what I'm interested in. I was using the old OA, unfortunately it didn't survive snorkeling. Unlike friends with Go Pro 8-10, I never had problems with freezing and other problems that GoPro suffers from. That's why I'm thinking about OA3. I liked the GP11 better in the test. But I also find the results of OA3 satisfactory for my use. I will wait until next season, by then the price of OA3 might drop a bit, or there will be some events like Black Friday or post-Christmas sale 😁 Thanks again for the great work, it helped me a lot.

This is the comparison video I've been waiting for. The OA3 kept losing focus which is the deal breaker for me. It's a real shame as I was hoping it would do better, due to the lower price, better battery life and the magnetic clamps. I'm going to wait for Hero 11 mini reviews - esp. with regards battery life before I buy one of the Heros. My buddy got the best deal of all with a Hero 8 for £220 + 2 batts from Amazon in the last sale - the video quality is not far behind the Hero 11, however with the non-replaceable lens he's got to careful handling it.

Agreed. While the OA3 looks downright amazing in the right conditions, it's mediocre in others and I could never figure out why until I put a GoPro next to it. The Hero 11 Mini apparently doesn't have removable batteries tho. So, Hero 9 or 10 with some extra batteries is probably one of the best deals right now.

Thanks for the comparsion man! I have a question having the OA3 on 4K 60fps and FOV:Ultra Wide does it let you have Rocksteady 3.0 on? Because on the comparsion it looks like it didn't have any stabilization on. Thanks!
@SuspensionTraveler2 жыл бұрын
Good question. Yes, i left every other setting the same so rocksteady was on. However, the digital stabilization needs to crop in on the image. And it does so less on the maximum fov. It‘s a compromise for sure and why I rarely use it in my videos.

Thanks! Undoubtedly, 10-bit vs 8-bit makes a HUGE visual difference...sometimes (not as big as one could expect from ratio of 1:58). In terms of sound quality they match each other. But, the question that is left unanswered is: does GoPro 11 suffer from freezing in a long run like (allegedly) all previous models do? Reliability is the most concern for many of us - models 3 to 9 were/are NOTORIOUS for tending to freeze, to produce sudden artifacts (splitting the frame into halves), to suddenly STOP recording etc.. Are THESE issues finally addressed or not? On another note: hey, the video made without stabilization is more interesting - don't ever use IS when riding your mountain bike!🙏
@SuspensionTraveler2 жыл бұрын
In terms of reliability, they're equal in my opinion after using them for a couple of months. I never had any overheating, freezing or currupted files with either. Even tho those are supposedly big issues. At least ones you hear about often. Sometimes the Hero 11 would act out when plugging into a computer. And I can't update the OA3 via DJI Mimo app. Those were my biggest technical frustrations so far. Funny you mention the stabilization! As a result of this testing, I started using the lowest IS option available. It's gotten so crazy good that footage looks unrealistically smooth on maximum. Completely off definitely looks immersive, but I also want to showcase the individual trails. So that's my compromise.

This is where DJI went wrong, they released the camera and then after everyone did their comparisons against GoPro11, they decided to release a new firmware that allowed for 10bit. Pretty much every comparison exists when the camera was out and that gives them a negative review because they compare 8bit vs 10bit. Also the lens not being screwed correctly that made it out of focus also contributed to the bad reviews. This focus thing was never going to be fixed with a firmware but fiddling with the lens for less than 5 minutes to fix the focus!

I never used the Hero9 but I think it's still good to go! More reliable than the 10 and basically the same features important for MTB (4K 30p). And it's the same housing, so even all Hero11 accessories fit! Hyperview and 10bit are the only major changes worth considering, both are negligible IMO.

Many thanks for this comparison,appreciate :). I own action 2 and I'am happy with that. I filmed last season (mtb enduro) with action 2 and to me,video quality was fine. Ultrawide fov is just fantastic and creates more speed. So as I like ultrawide and oa3 has same ultrawide,is video quality on par with action 2? I'am aware oa3 issues.Also gopro 11 has hyperview but to me it looks little bit more narrow. But video quality looks sharper,but no speedy. Main frustration now action 2 is that,you can't film below 0', as it isn't cold resistant at least 4k is out.
@SuspensionTraveler Жыл бұрын
Yeah, Ultrawide is wider than Hyperview (which is basically Superview with only more FOV top and bottom). To me, Action 2 and OA3 look very similarly out of camera. Even in sharpness. It would actually be my choice if i was buying one of them myself. That is based on longer battery life, and the fact that its 10% cheaper to buy the Action 3 "Adventure Combo" (with 3 batteries and a bunch of accessories), compared to just buying the GoPro 11 by itself, at least in Sweden. If i got to pick one for free, it would be the GoPro. For me, the extra quality wouldn't be worth all that money as its only for a hobby :P Great video and really good comparison.

@@SuspensionTraveler Ah ok thanks! I was hoping it was further up north. If I'm driving all the way down there (from Denmark) I might as well go a few hours more and visit the alps. I saw you had some footage from Leogang too, so I guess you know :) But the trails in the footage looks super sick.
@SuspensionTraveler2 жыл бұрын
@@TeamCykelhold Agreed. Tho, it's a great place to visit on the way through on a road trip to ride the alps. (It's not far from the highway) Not as steep but quite technical. So a good warm up. What's a recommendable bikepark or trail region up north? Wondering if it's worth trip incl. bike some time in the future.

@@SuspensionTraveler Harzen is great. Schulenberg Racepark is probably the best in Harzen. If you go all the way North to Sweden there are some lift service bikeparks too, but unless you drive really far up Sweden the parks are quite small. The nearest me is Vallåsen Bikepark. It's only 130hm, but the trails are decent. No big jumps though. For more technical trails you can go to Vångabacken. Very rough natural trails, and lift service 5 times per year. If you come North I can give you a tour.

Do one without the wind slayer on the OA3 so the color temp sensor is not blocked.

The first section was completely stock without windslayers. And the rest of the day after that first lap was with foam on and White Balance fixed at 5500K for both.

Super Video!

Macht's eher realistischer. Danke dir!

why 30 not 60 fps :(((( Now DOA3 got 10 bit to. I wonder what the difference is now
@SuspensionTraveler Жыл бұрын
60 FPS starts at 25:55 I'm currently working on the update to this video. The 10bit firmware is a huge improvement, but more due to the better exposure and HDR, rather than more colors.

Hello, I would like your opinion for an XC mountain bike use, which model would you recommend ? Thx
@SuspensionTraveler2 жыл бұрын
What's up! As I don't ride XC, I don't feel qualified in recommending a specific model. Sorry. But I got a tip for you: The best deals IMO are new bikes from your local bike shop. Either at an end of season sale or ones that are from a previous model year. Buy used only of you know how to be your own mechanic.
@msieursebonride2 жыл бұрын
@@SuspensionTraveler Sorry, I misspoke. I'm bad at English. What model of camera do you recommend for filming XC mountain bike rides? ;)
@SuspensionTraveler2 жыл бұрын
Haha, of course! Sorry I misread that. For longer XC rides I would assume battery life and weight are important factors. Out of the two in this video the OA3 lasts longer, but the H11 isn't *that* bad in normal use. Even tho the Action 2 would be lighter by itself, it lasts about 30min without battery module. It may sound stupid, but even for XC I would look into a chest mount (worn loosely). These cameras are noticeable on a helmet, especially a half shell. For the current price of the OA3, I can recommend it no worries. Or even previous action cams from DJI and GoPro in the last 2 years. Not so sure about the Insta360 ones for MTB. While I like the image of the H11 better, it comes at a price premium which I'm not sure is acceptable for everyone.

yeah this focus issue on action 3 has pissed me off, ive just past 14 days but just gonna say in business days still under 14 days and push for a refund. this is not acceptable, this is a shame because i love the setup of the battery case , fast charging etc.
@SuspensionTraveler2 жыл бұрын
That sucks to hear! It would've been the perfect package for me too. Not sure what causes that between stabilization and exposure flickering. It seems to happen exceedingly in difficult, high-contrast lighting.
@BassManStrikes2 жыл бұрын
I didn't notice any focus issue, is it only when using it for vlogging?
@SuspensionTraveler2 жыл бұрын
@@BassManStrikes What I noticed were those micro-jitters or exposure flickering in some situations, that looked blurry. When going in and out of the shaded wood sections, it's noticeable the most.
