The Horizontal Lines depict the Following Body Points -Shoulders -Bust Point -Waist -Hips I am using a Standard formula to place these lines on the Paper You must draw the shoulder Line at the Edge of the Paper as the Starting Point. Then use the Standard formula as follows: Shoulder Line to Bust Point Line : 10 Inches Shoulder Line to Waist Line : 17 Inches Shoulder Line to Hip Line : 24 Inches or 25 Inches for plus size. You still have to know your Circumferential Body Measurements for these points -Bust -Waist -Hip When you have measured yourself and gotten the circumferential measurements, divide the measurements by 1/4 and insert the 1/4 measurement on the the paper as shown in the Video. For the Shoulder Point your Insert 1/2 of the Measurement of the Paper.

Is Burst point mean the chest?
@bloomwiththestars2 жыл бұрын
@@theoriginsofsoccerandmore1026 I believe here bust point means the circumference taken at the fullest part of your bust/breasts (sometimes called the chest, but chest is also a term sometimes used for the shoulder to shoulder length measurement).

Good Question Esther .. Since this Video is Just the Sloper/Block adding any seam allowances at this point isn’t necessary.. We should really add the allowances when we are creating the actual Garment Fashion Design ... so at that point we will add all the necessary Seam Allowances..

Good day, I assume this draft is for knit fabric as you are using actual body measurements and not including any ease in the bust area, waist or hipline.
@PatternYourStyle4 жыл бұрын
You can use this particular illustration with Knits or Cotton. I am not showing ease in this illustration because I call these BLOCK Pattern the “Foundation Slopers”. However, when you are creating your actual fashion Design Garment, you would have to add your Wearing Ease. That’s why this BODICE Drafting illustration would work with any Type of Fabric . You determine your actual ease at the Garment Construction Design Phase or when you are selecting your Fabric. Hope this helps ?

Hi Ma, thank you for this. What determines the measurements from shoulder line to chest, bust, waist and hip line. Were you using standard measurements and what are those? Thank you
@PatternYourStyle4 жыл бұрын
Standard sizing is what dress manufacturers use to make dresses in bulk .... If you are going to buy a New Dress from a Shop when you go in you will see so many sizes such as size 10, size 12, size 14, size 16 ... etc. The manufacturers have to use a standard measurement to make these dresses for the sizes ... e.g for like size 16 ... since they cannot measure every woman to get their body measurement ... they have to use a Standard ... and that is what I show you how to use in the Video ... I show you how to use a Standard

Thank you Ma. And where can I find those standard measurements?

This is the best tutorial for beginners I have watched, thank you so much. Please, the one inch drawn to the neckline is that the standard measurement? If not, why is it one inch. Also, can the measurement of the neck be less than 3cm? Thank you.
@PatternYourStyle4 жыл бұрын
Thank You Chiburem for your Comments.... Yes the 1"inch shoulder slope Line to the Neck is a Standard... 1 inch is used because the Shoulder slope on the human Body is not exactly straight ...so when drawing that shoulder slope line on paper, you must include a 1 Inch slope. The standard Measurements for Neck Depth and Neck Width is 3 INCHES by 3 INCHES minimum or 4 inches by 4 inches.. anything less than that will be too tight .... Remember in the Video I show my Measurements in Inches and not Cm ...
