Got to the anxiety part with the bending plastic and decided maybe I should look for a video... Glad it worked out in the end for both of us.. somewhat related topic that might interest potential buyers, my one has a noise from its CPU fan after about 5 months of use, so going to be looking for replacements because rma takes too long and it'll take 15 minutes to replace

Interesting that GMKtec no longer lists this model and replaced it with the K8 Plus which they call a "re-design of the K8". The new larger fan looks to address the heating issue.

@@htwingnut I got the k8 plus a few days ago and can say the new aluminium case, top lid design, larger top fan and oculink port are definitely worth the small price increase.

Listing for this on Amazon says this comes with 4TB possible capacity expandable to 8TB.But it only has two slots. How do you get 8 TB?

Thank you for that input. I haven't had to deal with their customer service. All I know is that they have been more than accommodating with my requests so far. But I 'll look into their customer support as I know the product quality and features are only as good as the company support.

From what I generally see, the key complaints are regarding shipping times when ordering from China, where many points along the way can be bottlenecks outside of a companies control. Luckily this seems one of those brand that can often be sourced locally from sites with quick delivery and free returns. None the less, it is always a very worthwhile consideration before a final purchase and one that should not be ignored or assumed, regardless of what others say, including me.
