I have a black matte / satin Dodge Challenger RT plus with black & pearl leather interior! It has the red strips down the hood and trunk but if u look close u can see the black underneath the red with chrome wheels. The dealership told me the car was wrapped because matte black is not the original color on the title. But one vinyl shop said it’s paint or maybe plasti dip!! I am so bummed! I love my car even though I wash it all the time with Dr Beasley products and they are not cheap! Is there anyway I can tell if it’s plastic dipped ? I put $15,000 down on my car so I’m worried how much more $ I’ll end up correcting the paint. Thanks for your advice!

Detailing matte finishes is pretty straight forward. You could even use those wash&wax-products, since they don‘t add protection in the first place. Just don‘t polish and don‘t use sealants/ waxes that have the ability to cover up scratches. The market wants the minority of people with matte cars to pay more for those „deDiCaTEd“ products. 90% of the soaps out there are „matte safe“. Nevertheless, thanks for the content. Amazing car👍🏽 It‘s always nice to see people getting into Detailing✌🏽

I have a Frozen X7 with PPF from Esoteric but in the month or so prior to the PPF I had the chance to wash the car several times and it was a non-event. I actually prefer it gloss because you don't get the grabbing sensation when washing or drying. In my opinion the paint requires no special care from someone who is properly washing in the first place. Most of the noise online regarding caring for matte paint is from people who have zero experience with it. Just don't use products with fillers or gloss enhancers. If you're dying for an LSP Gyeon Cure Matte is nice, otherwise there's nothing else to do. Just my $.02 The pricing of the Dr. Beasley's matte coating is absurd in comparison to the other options on the market.

@lyndon_rich3 жыл бұрын
@@benjamintrahin9571 well he never claimed to be an expert on Frozen/Matte Paint. He said in the beginning of the video that he is “trying this out” and that he “hasn’t done this before”. The overspray and deep waterspots are extremely hard to remove on this kind of paint because you can’t polish or compound it like your typical paint due to the way the clear coat works on a matte car. Im sure their is some odd, specialized way of handling it but to most people this is a massive difficulty especially compared to how you would handle gloss paint. Take a look around his channel and I’m sure you will find he’s very knowledgable. His demeanor is truth, he’s not trying to make you feel good about incorrect information or technique.
@benjamintrahin95713 жыл бұрын
@@lyndon_rich I shouldn't have worded it that way. I know Matt is a smart guy and knows his stuff. Just not when it comes to this paint I guess. It's not something you see every day. And yes, the waterspots would be a real bitch to get off. But the overspray could be removed pretty easily with an all purpose solvent, and you can even clay this type of paint if you're very careful.
@lyndon_rich3 жыл бұрын
@@benjamintrahin9571 i actually mistook your reply to be the same person as the original comment to explain the long response. But yes, this is Matts first ever “experimenting” with this kind of paint and im sure its cleaner than all our non-matte cars lol. (Im no pro with matte paint obviously) If by all purpose cleaner you mean something like an acetone/alcohol/laquor thinner; I have seen that used but I definetely wouldn’t know how it reacts with a matte clear and how aggressive you would have to get to get an overspray this old off the car. I mean that would be way to intimidating for me to even use on any old regular car. As for clay it still doesn’t seem like a good idea to use anything abrasive like that on this but im sure there are detailing gurus who can make it work
