What's downgrading about a man having multiple women? Realistically, one woman cannot match a man, but a man that will nurture the flock of Christ is admonished to have just one woman so as to be focused on the Church of God. Multiple women issue is of old. King Solomon of Bible had 300 wives and 700 concubines.
