I've watched several videos on Icon over the last few days and this is, by far, my favorite! I am a Royal Caribbean fan and can't wait to sail on Icon! Thanks for the great video!!!

That's nice of you to say! Royal Caribbean released all the information on a specific day, and I noticed quite a few KZbinrs rushed to put something out quickly while the information was still considered new. I thought I would take a little more time to do something better. I'm glad you liked it.

The cruise-lines should hire you to educate at those seminars Caitlin attended!!! This ship is amazing. It is so massive it needs a horizontal people mover in Central Park and possibly a lazy river to get me from one pool/hot tub to the next!!! Thanks for the amazing explanation. Jim breaking news in Australia, Indonesian authorities have requested that a cruise ship carrying about 2100 passengers and crew abandon the Balinese leg of its 17-day tour, following a COVID outbreak on board.

I hadn't heard about that specific incident yet, but I have been following all the trouble that Princess has been having down in that region. I assume that all cruise lines are having these kinds of Covid issues in all regions of the world. Only Australia is requiring the lines to report the cases. Here in my part of the world, the authorities (and the cruise lines) are just burying their heads in the sand and making it appear that there's no problem by not requiring the cruise lines to report when there is a problem.

Icon (in a way) really isn’t bigger than Oasis. This really comes to show just how so much of the “openness” of the Oasis class has disappeared. Virtually the same volume taken up as Excel or Oasis class ships so they’ve definitely filled in the ship. Personally way to big for me and I prefer large ships.

That slide on the Liberty Of The Seas was fun, but unfortunately they don’t allow single riders, which sucks for me because i’m usually by myself

I had the same situation... my wife was on the cruise with me, but wouldn't go with me on the slide. So, I just stood down at the bottom where people exit the ride, and when I spotted people that looked friendly I would ask them (as they exited the ride) if either one of them would like to go again, with me. I was able to find people to ride with.

This boat looks good, but why didn't you talk about Mardi Gras? That ship came out earlier and is the largest in Carnival's fleet. I thought you were going to travel in one of their Excel suites.

Yeah, I had a suite booked on Mardi Gras... and then Covid went and screwed everything up! Once cruising re-started and Mardi Gras hit the seas, those Excel Suites were all booked up and I couldn't get one. But the good news is that I am going to be sailing on Carnival's even newer ship, Carnival Celebration, and that cruise is coming up fairly soon. I couldn't snag an Excel suite, only a standard balcony cabin, but I imagine that before the new year you will be seeing some nice new videos from me, shot on Carnival Celebration.

That would definitely be a concern. However, you do have to keep in mind that ships like this generally cruise in warm weather destinations. So, in an extreme emergency, passengers do always have the option of just going to one of the lower decks and jumping overboard in to the warm Caribbean water. An emergency on a cruise ship in the Caribbean is much more survivable than an emergency on a cruise ship in Alaska or anywhere with frigid water.
