you do not know what you are talking about. It is a serious fine flying a drone there. I think its like 400,000.00 MXN$ thats about $20000.00 USD and they probably would have ended up in jail. Also new rules are any drone over 250g needs to be registered in Mexico and only Mexican citizens can register. Flying an unregistered drone is additional fine. The governments are the ones corrupt, the security guard probably had to pay his boss off to keep quiet and keep their jobs. This could have ended very badly.

Made the trip in 1989 ... an awesome memory to say the least. Hopefully you got to try the food at the hotel just outside the gates ..... the best Flan I have ever encountered anywhere, even in the rest of the Yucatan! Bus drivers then had a warning light and buzzer that would come on to make them stay below 180 kmh .... somewhere around 75 mph. It hard to imagine that Chinchen Itza is 23 sq mile of crushed shells .... when those shells are two hours away by modern transport. If you are getting wet hope it is a Xel-hia!!

I have detected extensively in Mexico and, as everywhere, I went out of my way to know the local law before I got started. Ancient native sites like Chichen Itza are protected and detecting is not allowed. Spanish and modern sites are good to go. Drones are restricted. It's wise to consult an attorney, employ a guide, and even let local law enforcement know what you're doing.
@AC-fv7kt7 жыл бұрын
Charles Temple Well that would require thinking of others instead of himself....which he didn't do. This is why things have to get regulated and enforced....lack of common sense. (What if the drone malfunctions and crashes into or lands on a pillar....would he just climb it and get it down?) Then they are all roped off with signs making people stay back so many feet. I bet people love hearing and seeing the drone in their photos..... Same as detecting, one guy goes and does what he wants and booom....cannot allow detecting here anymore.....rrrrrrrrrrrr

There are signs on the way in, if you want to video you have to pay an additional fee, I am not sure if drones are even allowed. If you didn't pay then they had every right to detain you. And don't make it seem like they are the corrupt ones, you paid them...
@procaliadventures7 жыл бұрын
The question is: did you pay the additional fee that gives you filming video rights? if you did not, you broke the law, its like 70 pesos or 4 us dlls. the general admission does not include it. next time ask if your not sure and save 76 us dlls. and also next time refráin from mocking and acting like you deserve a high five because you contributed with a corrupt system! i understand your situation in that moment, ok , you got away with it and thats great but why make it public? nice video as usual. and hope to meet you soon and pillage together. Now you've stirred up a controversy Dr. Tones. I've been trying to figure out your strategy for some time now, then you took off Globe Trotting. (Not that that is a bad thing) I was happy with the Detecting old street and side walk tear outs here in the MidWest, USA. But I'm a simple old guy who has no desire to travel abroad anymore. I will however, watch KZbinrs traveling. If I may interject, perhaps you should consider the buddy system when traveling to Mexico and other places. Maybe team up with someone that already knows the rules. Even other KZbinrs. Exploring with Josh (2.4M Subs) travels with other KZbinrs, meets with and greets KZbinrs in the host country and has experienced breakneck growth. I'm sure they have plenty of treasure hunters in Mexico. Procali has been doing a knock out job with his finds, but seems to be turned off a bit by doing videos in English, which is fine. Ed The Beach Hunter does a bilingual Video and does a great job. Brandon, you do better videos than 99% of the treasure hunting KZbinrs on here. Use that to your advantage. Though controversy can be good for some KZbin platforms, not so much of treasure hunting. As treasure hunters, we tend to be secretive and protective of our sites, which sometimes gets in the way of cooperation. When dealing with those who are different, you bridge the gaps with commonality, not controversy. Just my 3-cent silver piece worth. BTW, another great video. Keep them coming.
@DrTones24k7 жыл бұрын
I've done several meetups in the past. The problem is just as you said, you're trying to get other treasure hunters to share. I've watched Josh's channel blow up too. His video locations are key. His content isn't anything special in my opinion. It's just frequent. Unfortunately "frequent" and "finds" are two things that detecting channels need to succeed and they're the two things I don't have. Time and locations (that I can travel to regularly) that produce finds consistently.

Never take the liberty of just flying a UAV without doing proper research. This irresponsibility gives the drone community a bad name and makes the laws even tighter to fly recreationally. It also gives a bad general public perception towards content creators. Plus, your video is promoting bribery and your video thumb photo encourages others to develop a perception that all they need to do is pay someone off to get away with improper activities in other countries. Now this will jack up the grease-money prices for other tourist/drone operators in Mexico, because those guys who do take pay-offs, now know that this is a lucrative racket for them.
