Tell your client we thank her very much for letting this be recorded. Tell her she is not the only one who has gone through this experience I have noticed other videos where other people have gone through this also. I believe that you and your client have helped so many people. Human beings go through things. Peace and an abundance of blessings to you and your client.

I love the gentleness applied to the detangling. It is awesome how your methods have merit in your career. Proof is EVIDENTLY in the pudding with ya!

I’ve definitely neglected my hair a time or two. I get these little mini knots that take hours to work through. I think the base rate is fair because detangling matted or knotted hair is no joke

I've neglected my hair before too, and my dad made me cut most of my length off. It was easier physically than detangling but mentally? Genuinely I would never do that again, or advise anyone to do it themselves

I think a lot of people have a knee jerk reaction when someone feels strongly about wearing one’s natural, afro-kinky hair. I always see responses along the lines of “let people do what they want!”. And like, yeah, fine, no one can make you wear your natural hair. But we do a disservice to our community and history by acting like so many people just happened to feel they’d rather cover their hair at all costs than wear a twist out. These choices may feel individual and they do have individual impact, but they don’t exist in a vacuum. We have to interrogate these things personally and as a community. Not to bring shame to individuals but to assess what these actions respond to and whether they reinforce or dismantle the very real discrimination against our hair. I wouldn’t be surprised if in 30 years we look back and say “damn, the wig companies really preyed on us”. The same way we’re starting to look at relaxers today. Anyway! Great video, your work is invaluable. ❤

Im going to thumbs up this video however I think you may be misinformed on how to properly detangle hair. This process didnt take you 2 days and a span of 5 hours, also I never saw you rip through her hair with a wide tooth comb. Most importantly, you didnt give any commands to the hydrogen bonds so theyre just doing whatever they want! I leave this comment with love, and hopefully you’re able to learn from this.

In all the years that I've been subscribed to your channel one thing that has been a constant is hair health. If you tried some technique or treatment that did not work you would share that too. If someone is mad because you spoke on what all stylists are taught in school about heat that is fine - it is their loss. I like that you stand your ground for what is right. You did a wonderful job with your client's hair and I hope that she comes back for a treatment once she gets the detangling complete. ❤

I too have had tangles that became matted recently. I have fine textured hair. I have been natural since 2012. I have been doing my hair myself and it was thriving and growing from a big chop. I have gone through a extremely stressful time the last three years and I began to neglect my hair. I went monthly to have a silk press and the cosmetologist was not receptive to the natural oils I was using. She was angry, and it showed in the services. I finally stopped going to be abused. I just gave up!! I would do my hair 3 hrs and just leave it two strand twisted and not comb it until Saturday night for church on Sunday! Even that became too much. So I stopped going. I thought I had really combed through it and twisted it but when I washed my hair I , did a lot wrong and it banded together in different sections of my hair. I was left not knowing what to do. I kept conditioner in and worked the smaller sections through. But the big mats were frusting and I left it and wetted my hair and continued to work on it. I gave up and finally went to another cosmetologist and he said nothing after I explained the matting. He tried but he was frustrated and started cutting. Then he applied a perm and then color and when he was done my shoulder length was maybe ear length! I lost all edges on one side, my hair is coming out, I reached out but he refused to tell me what to do to calm it down. I should have gone to the barber shop gor a big chop. I'm in counseling now, working through tough issues and slowly taking myself back. Self care slowly has been like a balm to my mind, heart and myself. I have followed Narada since he was in cosmetology school. I need real help with my hair, I am close enough to visit him once a month. My therapist believes that my journey it will be a tremendous boost to take my control back and enjoy my hair again! Thanks for reading.

I am so tired,but I have to take care of my temple from head to toe. I will be getting a shampoo, conditioner,detangle,and detox because my hair is matted and balding in some spots! Then I will get a very short boy cut and start my hair journey right away. And you are correct brother,that heat does more damage than good for natural hair. AMEN 🙂😭

This reminding me how im fatigued with taking care of my Hair rn. i need to put some braids or something in but i feel like those styles break my hair. My sister does my hair and she said when she dips the braids in the hot water (my hair is long) it doesnt affect my real hair. But i feel like she lied to me 😂 because i always have like hella split ends

Thank you for showing us your technique and thanks to your client for allowing this to be filmed. You may have mentioned this in the video(I’m watching it now)-what was your technique for applying the African pride pre-poo? I know you said it works best in wet hair. Did you wet her hair first here and then apply the pre-poo? Also did you let it sit for a bit before detangling?
@AfrikanHairGod
@AfrikanHairGod Жыл бұрын
I just applied it directly and used water to spread the product into the strands. If it would dry up from sitting so long I would just rewet it there's a point in the video where I add the product I'll see if I can find the time stamp

what would be the steps for regrowth back to healthy hair???
@AfrikanHairGod
@AfrikanHairGod Жыл бұрын
Cut off all the thinning and damaged ends and just be consistent with keeping the hair clean, moisturized, and healthy. Once the damaged portions are cut the hair will technically be healthy and all you have to do is maintain the health. The thinning areas of her scalp is another issue. This is my first time meeting her so I don't know exactly what caused her hair to thin like that but that would need to be addressed and the hair may be able to come back in or out it might be too late.

My kid needs to be paying me for hair services. It takes me like 8+ hours to take their box braids down and get that matted stuff out. And then box braids go right back up because I'm lazy when it comes to hair. My kid will be in box braids until they're 18😂🤣😂 They have that long thick coarse hair and two strand twy twist/or box braids have really helped with their hair growth/retention and save me time not having to do hair but every two months when it's time to take them down.
