Detectorists - A perfect TV show

For many British folk, it's one of those rare gems that appear without much fuss, and become unmissable , after the first episiode. For me, what it does most, is hold up a mirror of typical small town eccentricity, where, although we enjoy the settings, in beautiful, typical English countryside, it's the cammeradery of the main two detectorists, who put all else thats going on in their lives, to one side, and place all effort on finding 'GOLD' , even though it's very rare, to accomplish this. The humour is light hearted , and never detracts from their main aims they've set for themselves.

It's so good. Minimalistic, great characters. Some really good lines. Never overly dramatic or explosive, but always entertaining.

What a crackin' gift! Long live DVD!! Couldn't agree more, it's so deliciously English, the sensibilities and humour are just so spot on. Very likely to re-watch it some day.

Just discovered this show on Netflix. Can't believe I missed it back in 2014. I've watched it three times already and have bought the movie special. 👍

Same as but ended it perfectly in series 3 and 2022 special kinda doesn't achieve much other than slightly ruin ending of season three

@@shhimwatching There are two specials. One Christmas one inbetween season 2 and 3 (IIRC) and then the 2022 feature length one. I loved them both. All of it.

In what way? Pubs are closing up and down the land and that's sad and should be stopped if possible. But fields, metal detectorists and friendships aren't going anywhere!

It's great,perfect.the comedy,music,countryside.great character acting & as you say about metal detecting who'd of thought!have you seen Paul Whitehouse & Bob Mortimer gone fishing?not really about fishing but 2 old mates & 2 of the greatest comedians ever talking about the past,present,future.great editing,music & countryside.there Christmas specials are a joy to switch the brain off for an hour😂😁

Good on ya!there's many series(5 or 6)but not the sort of thing you have to do in order.even if you hate fishing it's just 2 old buddies in the autumn of their lives being silly😊🤗
