Everyone should know that these interviews need to be taken with a grain of salt. Inspirational? Sure! Road map? Meh. Juna your videos about design and how to take inspiration but come up with unique designs is a thousand times more valuable. I really LIKE that your content is research and design vs ....well, Etsy content. Hey, in the KDP-verse Amazon is now asking if the artwork was made with AI. I understand that's not your focus but I am wondering if Merch has started asking the same thing?

Thanks for your comment.... I haven't heard about Amazon Merch asking about AI but if KDP is asking then maybe Merch on Demand will be nest.

Can you use the AI design, if you add to the quality of it, in some way? Or are they not allowing it, no matter what? I am sure other companies may start to ask the same. So, I am wondering what the best work around would be?

Wow, Juna, this is awesome. I am just getting ready to get on Etsy. Back to the interview…What worries me is that many of these sellers started in the peak time to start…2020, so it exploded, but I am not letting this stop me. 😊

What people need to understand is that if you're getting in late, the value is unique niches and angles. Too many people who get in after the peak do "slight modifications" of best sellers. Spend your time finding unique angles in lesser known niches instead, while most people will be lazy and do "slight renditions of best sellers." Take advantage of the 98% of who are lazy and not that creative.

But what about Printful instead of Printify?:)

You probably could use either but Printify has better prices and products

Question for Stephen, please, regarding ornaments. When doing Everbee research to find designs, are you looking at ornament designs (maybe from last year) or, if you see that a given top-selling design is on another product, are you still putting your spin on it and presuming that tweaked design will sell on ornaments too? Thanks!

Curious about the same question. I always check the talkers' Etsy to validate what they said, and found out some people are just bragging...

Great insight. I'm looking at Etsy and wondering where the profit is though. Whatever Printify product I look at I can't even get close to other people's prices without making a loss. I honestly feel like I'm missing something here.

Yeah, I saw people selling sweatshirts and T-shirts for less than $10, while researching all day yesterday, and wondered how they were doing it. Now, some may have been making their own shirts with a cricut machine, at home, but still, that is so cheap. However, I did see a lot of complaints about the some of the shirts, because they had a vinyl design on them, and people did not like that, because the design won’t last very long.

Good iinfo, thanks! Question: What about the big question for me at least... Returns .. then complaints, then the things I hear like, "It didn't arrive on time, I want a refund" . This wasn't discussed and it is the big hold back for me. How is this handled, and how big a thing is it? I know Stephen alluded to an hour or less a day because he answered pre purchase questions in the listing. But no one seems to talk about taking returns or just refunding and how fraught that is to scammers etc., With my Merch Amazon account I am so not involved with these things I would like a comparison in real life about going into Etsy. Ha-ha I want to do it, but want to know before hand if the can when opened will be full of worms. Thanks to all who have walked the walk and would care to answer. BP

Great question for Stephen.... When I was doing Etsy I didn't have too many returns but it did happen and I refunded the customer when they returned back to the print on demand provider.
@petersongallery

@@DetourShirts Thanks Juno. So you had them send it back and if not then no refund, correct? Did the customer then have to pay shipping costs to return the item? So what then became of the returned shirts?
