As much as researching and understanding a POD site is important, so is finding the right tools. A beginner will be overwhelmed with the selection, and may feel they have to overspend on tools to make sales. When many of the cheap or even free tools would work best for them in the beginning. As well, a few of them actually multi-task so that adds unseen value.
@DetourShirts3 жыл бұрын
True.... I should have said that... in the beginning I would start with FREE tools.... even for gathering data.... you can just keep track on your own on what sells and what doesn't... great point... thanks for sharing.

Another step you could add would be for people to research the different programs that are available for creating designs. I started with Photoshop but your videos inspired me to try Affinity Designer and now I don’t want to use anything else! ☺️ Also, newbies should know the different places to find fonts, images, etc. I know you have covered all of these very well in prior videos. Was just thinking they might warrant being a step in your list.

Thank you.... I stopped doing trends for a few reasons... I have a whole video on it.. the two big reasons were that... 1) trends are not long term so what I was sharing was only good for a week or two.... 2) trends were tricky, sometimes they are good and then sometimes they were trademarked the next week. I didn't want to share something that could get someone to lose their account..... I hope you understand.

Great insight. I especially appreciate your thoughts about following the data. As a Tier 10 newbie, I have some designs that I was really excited about putting up, until I invested in Merch Informer and realized that there is a less than 1% chance those designs would ever sell. Now I'm choosing my subjects/keywords with much more data.

I usually use Affinity Designer to create my designs... I have used Canva and Kittl before too.... Photoshop is great if you know how to use it.... yes you just upload your design as a transparent png file and the POD sites will print them and ship them when an order comes in.

But if you add too many designs, people will be confused what to choose its called somehow that its hard to choose and they choose nothing. Change my mind
@DetourShirts Жыл бұрын
Depends on the platform and depends on the designs you have.... For example if you are on Amazon it doesn't matter how many designs or products you have because people are use to Amazon have a ton of products and people are searching for a specific product/topic so they won't only see your designs in the results......What you are saying might have a bigger impact if people go to your store on Shopify of Etsy and see all your products.... but with POD sites like Amazon, RedBubble, TeePublic and others that is not how most people shop.

What is your strategy in social media? How important is is in your case? I Love your videos always ❤
@DetourShirts3 жыл бұрын
My social media is kind of different than most Print on Demand sellers. My social media is mainly to help others with their print on demand. I do have my shirts on there but it isn't really that helpful because my audience is 99% sellers not buyers. If you can grow your audience to be more buyers than sellers than I think it would be more helpful.

One challenge that really bothers me is being perpetually stuck in Tier 10 on Amazon Merch. I’ve sold well over the threshold to move on to the next level. 🤷🏼♀️ It breaks my heart to have to delete my designs to add new ones when they haven’t really had a chance to be seen.

Hi Juna :) I have another question: how do you manage 10 POD platforms? I’m on three (RB, MBA, Etsy) and it takes time to upload designs to all… so how do you do it every day with 10 platforms?? And do you put the same tags/keywords on all the platforms, or do you research each platform for its own keywords?
@DetourShirts3 жыл бұрын
To be honest I mainly upload to Merch by Amazon... all my other POD shops I only upload 3-5 times a month or less. I do use mainly the same tags/keywords when I do. I do research for tags on RedBubble and TeePublic has an autocomplete help thing for keywords. I spend more time on Merch because I've found it brings me the most income

You don't... it would be too expensive.... but if you have an original design and you post it up for sale it is automatically copyrighted. ... that's why you should never copy someone else's design... they can sue you.... that and it's totally wrong.
