He will be. He has better numbers than guys already in there, like Fuhr for one example. Vernon only got in last year. Luongo too, but Luongo getting in before Osgood is criminal. The excuse some give for Osgood not being deserving is not winning a Vezina. Luongo didn't either, and didn't win one Cup. Guess it was due to International play.🤣

I miss Gary Thorne and Bill Clement (Philadelphia Flyers broadcaster) announcing NHL games. Love hearing Bob Cole of CBC announcing games, unmistakable voice. Doug Brown was a great third line player, always got timely goals. It was nice of the Washington fans to give Konstantinov a standing ovation and players/coaches to shake his hand at the end of game 4 of the Cup Finals. Also miss Bud Lunch as the PA announcer for Detroit. The Cup raising with Konstantinov at the end brings a tear to my eye.

Steve picked up the Clarence Campbell Championship and won the Cup. It wasn’t the only time and he lost the first time. 95 he did it and lost. 97, 98 and 02, Won the Cup.

@@KZ3fps I think in retrospect Marty was too. Amazingly, he actually said in an interview, while he was the Blackhawks CAPTAIN (after his time in Boston), that it was a mistake leaving Detroit. I'll never forget it. Impressive honesty, but I have to wonder what his Chicago coaches & teammates at the time thought about it, LOL.

Surreal to think Phoenix had Detroit on the ropes in game 4. Between the Osgood save on Tkachuk after Tocchet scored early and the McCoun buzzer-beater, (and Khabibulin's injury), you felt like the series was over after that,.

T_R_ L 1997 Red wings won the cup, mvp of the playoffs went to Vernon and his crazy .944 save %. In 2002 wings won with Hazel in net. Only in 1998 did Osgood do much for winning a cup and his overall stats while decent weren’t jaw dropping. Getting 3 cups, 2 as a backup gets you to the HoF? Na.

@@agentorange20 LOL what? Osgood carried the 2008 team to the cup after Hasek was pulled after just 4 games. Osgood played 19 games and went 14-4 with a .930 sv% and 1.55 GAA.

I understand where your coming from. But I disagree, without #91 we don’t win 3 Cups. I wish he would’ve finished his career in Detroit. But his number should be retired, and I think we will retire it. I also believe Holmstrom, Osgood, Drapes, D-Mac should have their numbers retired. Obviously Zetterburg, Datsyuk and Kronwall will be. I also believe Shanny’s number should be retired, but unfortunately that’s not going to happen. Trading for Shanny put us over the top. He should be an exception. Edit: Igor Larionov’s number should also be retired. He should also be the exception to the rule. But that won’t happen either, unfortunately.
