Great video! I subscribed! I used to go boating with my late dad on Lake St. Clair & sometimes we would cruise down the Detroit River. Many memories of those days & when I was kid going from Detroit to Bob-Lo Island on the Ste. Clair & Columbia Bob-Lo boats.

It's real cool on how by flying over the Federal Satsuki you let us look directly into its hold and then again with the Cuyahoga we got to see two holds open and the cargo in them.

I love these videos that show the Wescott delivering the mail on the river but what about the boats that don't come thru this way and only work more north and down the west side on lake michigan

I grew up on Lake St. Clair and the River. My Dads a retired Detroit firefighter and we would be out on his boat every weekend. I loved the big freighters and remember him telling me about the Fitz and Arthur Anderson. I remember seeing the Tregurtha and Dad told me she was the biggest boat on the lakes. Also that she was different than the other lakers because the wheelhouse is aft not up front! That was a fact that has stood with me. Before I joined the Navy I had an upper flat down at the end of Alter Rd. From my bedroom window I could lay in bed and watch them cruise by. Not a bad view for 300.00 per month!
