I retired my Airport Express for a Linksys router last year as I was having connectivity drop out issues with my speedstream ADSL modem... Not sure why it was happening, but since I have made the switch I no longer have dropouts in my wifi. That being said, I have always wanted to use the Airport Express as a range extender... This video has helped show how that is done. I am hoping I can pair this up with the linksys router though. Will have to give it a try.

I'm not an expert either (I'm VERY confused about setting this thing up.) but as far as I know, that plan should work well! I read somewhere a while ago that people were using them in hotel rooms and plugging them into the Ethernet chord provided and producing free wifi throughout the room. so I believe that should work.

Im sorry of this is a really basic question, but I am no expert at this! This autumn I am moving into a student house provided by my University. My room will contain one ethernet cable only, but I have other devices as iPhone or iPad (in addition to my MacBook) in which I would love to have some sort of wireless connection. Would it be able for me to purchase the AirPort Express, plug in the ethernet in my room and get wireless internet? Any help is much appreciated!

m going to china soon and Do not want to take my laptop, i might be purchasing this airport express and also either an ipad or ipod touch. But in China, it isnt common to have wifi in Hotels only ethernet. And obviously you can't connect cable to an ipad or ipod touch. So i was wondering if i can buy this airport express, set it up at home and configure the router settings, then when i go to china turn it on, pop in the cable and then it should appear on my ipad as a connection also for others?

I have an 10mb internet here, with the Ethernet cable plugged on my macbook pro I'm able to use and enjoy all of the 10mb, if the airport express I'll be able to enjoy all of my 10mb internet via wifi?

I, like you, have a bunch of stuff that make me want to have the AirPort Express. Here's the thing; I already have a router that creates a WiFi hotspot, but since all of my computers, PS3, iPhone, iPad etc. run on that network, it's become pretty slow. Will the AirPort connect with the already existing network and make it faster and better, or will ir create a new network? (I saw an Ethernet port on the Airport, and that's what keeps me wondering) Btw, I love your videos! Please reply

its the internet connection you pay for, you connect your wifi router to your internet connection to use wifi. SO basically you dont pay monthly for your wifi but for the internet service you use

if u connect it with a cable and as acces point yes.. if u connect it wirelessly.. then no it's dependent on the already weak signal in the room deeming it useless. it's not a repeater and even then most repeaters are useless to begin with if relient on weak wifi signals. acces points are reliant on cables for a solid signal to begin with.
