Hand 2 otf with ace of clubs blocker is pretty bad. You block most of the range you want to call you I.e. NFDs plus straight draws or without straight draws, top pair also means you block kq kj that might call that you're ahead of, so other than exactly qjcc and the few combos of kq kj I dont know what calls you that you beat.

@@detroitpoker7894 as above. On brick turns we get them to commit with those shitty draws and one pair hands we crush because of the tiny spr. I'd bet 100 otf jam any non scary turn

@@detroitpoker7894 there isn't really a difference between 50 and 100 - my overall point is jam seems really bad. I cant see you achieving anything but getting worse hands to fold and better hands to call That being said, if you want to improve, please look into running simulators, they're really cheap, in spots like this. They'll give you specific percentages that you should be doing specific actions to play gto. And they'll show you how far you depart from the true optimal decision
@jambasket2115 жыл бұрын
One important consideration that appears to be overlooked is that most poker hands do not want action. Typically, winning the current pot, especially a pot like this that was bloated preflop by several cold callers of a 3 bet, is more valuable than getting your opponent to put more money into the pot with rather strong hands. What this means is that at some point, you'd prefer to block some of the calling range of your opponent (so that they aren't able to call as often)--in this case the Ac becomes very valuable. This perspective isn't one from fear of being outdrawn nor is it in any way similar to what you might here at the tables when someone says "I just wanted to take it down.". In those cases, players typically end up wagering far too many chips in their attempt to win the pot, that they may actually lose money overall given how much they lose when they lose compared to how much they win when everyone folds. Anyway, for more information on this topic, check out Matt Janda's book NL for Advanced Players. In a few of the early chapters, he discusses this concept in more detail. As for sizing, I can get on board with both the small and all in sizings. There are merits to both, but in terms of any bluffs/draws that bet, I think the larger sizing will be preferred given how the small bet can land hero on the turn with a very small stack to pot ratio and possibly up against multiple opponents too.
@jambasket2115 жыл бұрын
@@Chov3s When you say "simulators", I assume you're referring to a solver. Most solvers handle heads up situations only. However, Monker solver can handle multi-way pots, but it isn't cheap and is very resource intensive. So, if you buy a typical solver like GTO+, PIO, or Simple Postflop, be sure not confuse a multi-way pot with a heads up pot as the strategies will be very different. You could potentially model this scenario in Cardrunner's EV, but in a 5 way pot, even when the flop bet is all in, the game tree is enormous and it would take quite a while to even set this up.

With the AK on the 2nd hand what are ur thoughts now on the smaller bet on flop of K106? It's a spot a really struggle with in cash. And how do u continue with 1,2 and 3 callers when u make the smaller bet on the flop? I generally make the smaller bet and stack off any turn, but have lost with that quite a few times, especially 2 callers 1 hits. I feel like it's an AA spot pre.

What open sizings have you landed on after all these hours of playing 1-3? Do you open larger oop and a little smaller in late position? Always the same size? Are you opening to 13$ or bigger like $20 considering how many cold callers there are at these stakes? Even opening to 15$ I've been getting more callers than I want that kinda makes the open not even profitable. It's so hard to win a pot against 4 people calling with everything and not folding anything when they hit. Maybe open to 15$ except for JJ-QQ+ make it 20-25$?

With that last hand I don't know if i'd even C-bet that flop of K-10-8s w/KQs vs. the UTG+ 3 bet caller. His donk lead is usually weighted towards weaker hands right? But his sizing suggests that he'd like to get the money in yes, please. I like the fold, because the only other move is to move all in with those shortening stack sizes. Unless he's a GTO robot and doing this with all of his J10 type hands...then the end is nigh....

A little trick I like to use when I'm trying to figure out if my opponent is bluffing is I do the chip dance and I talk through the hand. "I have AQ here, TPTK can you really beat that? I don't think so. I don't think I'm strong enough to fold here to be honest." then I switch to "Ah I think you got a set or 2 pair". A lot of times their greed takes over as you talk through the hand and they'll say something like "You really have AQ?" or "You're really that strong? I don't see AQ in your range, blah, blah". ANYTHING that shows their impressed with the strength of your hand is a MASSIVE red flag, you're crushed - snap fold that shit. It's never a reverse tell. If they're stoic then you have to use other information. I think the fold with the KQ was good.

I'm not a proponent of showing cards when you don't have to, but sometimes you can do it to gain information. When you showed him the Q in the KQ hand when you folded, and lot of opponents (especially at 1/2) will happily roll their hand over and show you if they were bluffing, kind of as an ego thing. Of course it's player dependent and an older gentlemen probably isn't the demographic I'd target when I do this, but I do agree that their body language will often tell you what you wanted to know.

The 88 is a good check on the flop. Or a 1/4th cb bet. The gto solver doesn't make a bet that big multiway on a board that does not favor your range. You hold practically zero sets rasing utg on that board.

I personally like a small flop bet like $70 then turn jam for hand 2. You have the board so covered. Block nut flush with top top. You might get some value from a 10x or kx on the flop. If someone has top 2 or a set it's going in regardless with that SPR.

Usually donk bets are weakish one pair hands. I rarely ever see donk leads at this level with the top of their range, especially in 3 bet pots. Sounds like you're confident in your fold and it probably was a good fold with his sizing. With that said, I can't remember the last time I seen someone show up with a set, as played. I am very unbalanced in this spot and will only donk lead occasionally with the top of my range to get stacks in easier from out of position to keep from looking too strong with a check/raise.

At a 1-2 cash table I always fold AQ to a all in pre flop. It just isn't worth the chance that he's making a move with Jack's when you're being beat by the other combinations of AK KK QQ AA. Something sick I experienced the other day at a 1-2 cash table 9 people at it was the button open raising to $15 with $300 behind. The small blind calling the $15 with 200 behind. Me, the big blind with QQ reraising to $90 with 300+ behind. The button shoves all in, the small blind snap calls and then shows AK clubs before I act. What would you do? I know the button doesn't go all in without a premium hand. The small blind is blocking combinations of aces and Kings, I'm blocking combinations of Queens. No combinations of Jack's are blocked. I called and the button had KK and the Small blind flopped 2 aces and won the entire pot. Would you have done anything differently? Please let me know.

The KQs vs his close to pot size bet is a call. The look of disappointment doesn't mean anything. It's impossible to put someone on a set just on the flop. He bet into you and that can mean anything. A10,JQ,KJ,79s,j10,q9,q88,1010,q10,108s. There are more pairs and straight draw combos than sets. You need to call this down

I never listen to what my opponent says "Can you beat a big pair" - I'm pretty sure that's exactly what he DOESN"T have. Still I'm folding AQ it's just usually AK and so rarely anything you're really beating.
@silverlicious20865 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I know what you mean abt somebody going into the tank. But it wasn't a snap call, so he may have had a middle pair with a club. If I'm in a hand and it's me that shoves, I won't say anything to the tanker. They usually want to hear a tell maybe, so I don't say a word. Pock 8's hand. No sense in trying to fade a flush draw and open end'er if they have that. Not to mention sets or two pairs. Plus you have a weak 8 of hearts and a back door str8 draw. Not good. I would have folded also. Good luck with the book.

I'll be that guy. Hate the AK jam. You have the Ac, so somebody can't rep nut flush draw and you're not realizing any equity. You're only getting called with A10 and sets anyway when you're essentially drawing dead. That said, you can't bet 90 and invite Q10 to get good odds to call and out draw. You won the pot so it couldn't have been that terrible.
